Special Moments With My Children

Some special moments in life when it involves your children are very special. These moments are ones that you’ll remember forever and hopefully when you are no longer around your children will remember those special moments too.

All of my five children together.

One such occasion for me was boxing day. It was special because for only the second time this year I had all five of my children in the same room at the same time. This is such a rare occurrence for the simple reason that three of my children are 23, 21 and 19 years of age, then at the other end of the spectrum I am a dad of six year old twin girls, so it is never going to be easy to get them all together in the same place at the same time on a regular basis.

My 21 year old now lives a two hour drive away and works for the NHS as a nurse. This year she was working Christmas day, in fact this year was the first year I didn’t see her on Christmas day.

My three older children.

My 19 year old son is away at university so he doesn’t come home very often either.

Me and my boy although now a man.

This makes the logistics of getting them all together in the same place very difficult, but on boxing day they were all together. Five siblings all in the same room.

What makes it so special is watching how they all interact and enjoy each other’s company, then in an instant that can all change and they have a little dig at each other with possibly a snide remark! Siblings just do that don’t they?! However, for all that, the overwhelming feeling I see is love. Love for their siblings. It’s a moment of pure magic that I know, no matter what arguments or disagreements they have, they will ultimately always be there for each other which is something you cannot put a price on.

A perfect moment.

It’s these moments that are very special for me as a dad. I always take a moment to stand back and look at my five children and think yes! If I could have planned it, this is how I would have wanted it. My children as one, together, even with the arguments and disagreements because I know there is a love there that can never be broken.

I may never have much money. I mean who would with five children haha, but I do have something so much more important than that. I have family. The family I had a hand in creating. It is and will always be my legacy in life.

I have this overwhelming feeling of love and pride, and a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye when I see all my children together as one. It just truly makes me so very happy.

I just love this end of.
