3 Fun Beach Activities For You & The Kids This Summer!
The sun is out, the weather is beautiful and it is time for the summer holidays. For parents around the country, this is soon to be a reality. It’s getting to the point in the year when you have your kids at home for 7 weeks in a row. Normally, 7 weeks will fly by in an instant. But, when the kids are home, it can feel closer to 7 months. You need to keep them entertained and out of trouble, which is why a summer holiday or staycation is always on the cards.

Naturally, it’s good to go somewhere with a beach. Kids love beaches, you love beaches – who doesn’t love a good beach?! There’s sand and so much to enjoy, but here are three fun activities you can do to keep your kids occupied during your beach trips:
Treasure hunting
Kids love treasure hunting because of the possibility of finding something cool and valuable. Beaches are a great place to do this as things get washed up by the ocean and hidden under sand all the time. Of course, you’ll need a cool waterproof metal detector to do this. Then, it’s a simple case of roaming the beach with your kids and looking for treasure! Play a game – each child gets 30 minutes with the detector and whoever finds the coolest thing wins a prize. It keeps them highly entertained and can lead to some fantastic memories.
Side note: ensure there’s a consolation prize for the loser(s) so they don’t get upset!
Sand sculpting
We’re not on about your run-of-the-mill bucket sandcastles here! No, sand sculpting takes this idea and makes it better. Play with your kids in the sand, helping them create an absolute masterpiece. You want to build the biggest and greatest sandcastle the world has ever seen. Help your children mould it to their desires, bringing their sandy art to life. It literally keeps them occupied for hours and you will genuinely start getting into it as well. When it’s time to go, make sure you have a picture of them with the sculpture to conserve the memory forever.
Sea volleyball
Volleyball is always a popular beach sport because you can throw yourself around in the sand. Well, you can make it more fun by paddling into the sea with your kids. Stay close to the beach where the tide is shallow, just to be safe. Now, you can hit the ball back and forth to each other while being able to dive into the water at the same time. It’s an easy way to safely enjoy the ocean and keep your kids entertained.
Clearly, there are so many beach activities that you and your kids can partake in. Another favourite of mine is to collect pebbles or stones to take back home and paint. Getting your kids to dig a hole and bury you in the sand is also a popular choice that keeps them laughing for hours. Beaches can be fun, but they can quickly get a bit boring if your kids have nothing to do. They start getting reckless because they don’t want to just lie on a towel and sunbathe! Keep them occupied and happy with the ideas above.
