[AD] Buying The Right Christmas and Birthday Presents For My Twin Girls

I’m a father of nine year old twin girls and when it comes to Christmas’ and birthdays, we have always wanted to make sure that the girls have brilliant children’s presents. We like to make sure that toys are lots of fun, which of course is a no brainer, but we also try to make sure that they have some educational value.

When we found out we were having twin girls beside my initial thought of oh my goodness, this is going to be tough – two babies at the same time, I also thought when it comes to birthdays and Christmas, getting them presents will be easy. After all they are both girls and twins so they will like the same things and this will be easy. All we have to do is buy two of everything and it is sorted. How wrong was I!

What I never thought about was of course the girls are individuals and have completely different personalities and characters. That is now more obvious when it comes to buying them birthday or Christmas presents.

As they grew up it became very apparent that our girls had very different tastes. In fact, so much so, that I named them my superhero and princess. One of them would love to dress-up as a Disney princess while the other would pick a Marvel superhero costume. Even when they were just putting clothes on for the day, the one twin would instantly go for a dress while the other would reach for shorts and t-shirt. For all of that I loved the fact that their personality and characters were developing and they were growing up as individuals. This for me was particularly pleasing because I always disliked twins being dressed the same with the same hairstyle etc as if they were clones, which they most certainly are not.

When it comes to getting the girls toys for their birthday or Christmas, again it couldn’t be more different. The one twin loves dancing and gymnastics so a disco light show would be a perfect choice for her or a create your own bath bomb or a make-up kit, and generally speaking she loves the colour pink so we tend to incorporate that when buying her toys for her birthday or Christmas.

On the the flip side our other twin girl totally loves football. In fact if she had her way she would live and sleep in her football kit 24/7! If you want to find her she can usually be found playing football in the garden and if the weather is bad she will be playing FIFA on the TV. The perfect birthday or Christmas presents for her will usually be something such as a Smart Ball because she is always doing keepy uppys. Another present that would suit her is books as she loves to read and if it’s a book such as Football School, she would be totally made up because she gets to read about her favourite subject, football.

My twin girls are nearly ten years old and it’s been brilliant to watch them grow and develop their own individuality. The older they get the more individual they become which is so important that they have their very own identity. Yes they are twins and there may only be two minutes in age between them, but they are completely different. They are without a doubt my Superhero and Princess!
