[AD] Create Your Own Hero With The Night Zookeeper

Every parent will know at times it’s difficult to get children to read. Unless it’s exciting and fun it can be nigh on impossible for them to sit and read a book.

Well, I have teamed up with The Night Zookeeper, an online fun, and safe writing community for kids. They quite simply make reading magical and they have over 1,000 different learning games and activities that will improve their spelling, grammar and writing skills.

I’m a dad of nine year old twin girls and they have been using the Night Zookeeper at school, so to have the opportunity to be involved with one of their latest resources, well the girls were very excited.

The girls were asked to personalise their very own book and design a hero so they could then have the book with their hero as the main character.

How it works

So, as I have said the girls get to design their very own hero which you can do by either clicking personalise online and drawing a new character or you can select one of your child’s animals from their Night Zookeeper account, or pick from the great Night Zookeeper fun selection. You can also upload a hand drawn character, which is what the girls decided to do.

The girls got started in designing and drawing their very own hero. R, one of my twin girls ,drew a wolf/ bear. It had the head of a wolf and the body of a bear and its special talent is drawing. She named her hero ‘Wolfinator’.

My other twin girl, M created a pink sloth hero with bows in her hair and a big heart on her body. M named her hero ‘Rosey’ and Rosey’s special talent is acting.

The fun part of designing the hero is you get to decide the path of your heroes journey. It was fun watching the girls pick very different paths, but don’t worry about which journey your child picks, because you can just re-read your story and pick a different path.

The Night Zookeeper book is written by the master storyteller and founder of the Night Zookeeper, Joshua Davidson. The story is brilliant, incredibly imaginative and most importantly, it shows the importance of friendship and creative thinking.

The illustrations are truly brilliantly as they bring to life the girls heroes and they loved seeing the adventures their heroes went on.

The Night Zookeeper is an amazing place to encourage, engage and spark the imagination and creativity of children and my twin girls love it.
