[AD] JAQUES Of London Board Game Review
As a family we have always enjoyed quality family time. A huge part of our time together is spent playing games. We enjoy board games, card games and the more traditional games like chess and backgammon.

Instead of sitting glued to a screen and having no conversation we’ve found a great way of connecting as a family and enjoying each other’s company is playing games.
We are always open to learning new games and as our 10 year old twin girls are growing up their thirst for more challenging board games is growing. For instance they have now wanted to learn games such as chess which takes more thought and skill to test their growing brain power.
So when I was recently approached by Jaques of London to review a couple of their board games it was perfect timing.
Who are Jaques of London?
Jaques of London is the oldest games and sports manufacturer in the world. It was passed down from father to son for eight generations since 1795. They have invented some of the most well known games such as Ping Pong, Snakes and Ladders and Ludo to name a few, and of course these are still played all over the world today.
All of Jaques of London’s games and toys are made from wood and made to the highest standard. They ooze quality and craftsmanship.
I was sent two games to review. This is what I thought.
1. Folding Chess Board Set (hand finished travel chess set) RRP £24.99
This is a beautiful chess set from Jaques of London. It’s perfect as a travel chess set measuring just 11 inches. The hand carved wooden Staunton chessmen and the king is 2.5 inches tall.

Jaques of London supply the finest quality and this travel set is absolutely perfect for a game of chess on the move at a very affordable price.
The chess board folds and has a walnut and sycamore finish with a baize based to store the hand crafted Staunton chess pieces.

This Jaques of London chess set is perfect for my twin girls to learn the game of chess and of course we can also take it on our travels.
I can’t recommend this chess set highly enough. Jaques of London make very beautiful Chess sets, which are very affordable.
2. 4 Player Shut the Box 10 Numbers (4 player dice game) RRP £14.99
This is a very new game to us as a family. It’s perfect for children to learn key skills to take them through their lives. It will help them develop counting and addition skills as well as collaborative play, the ability to follow instructions, turn taking and their hand to eye coordination.

Like all Jaques of London products this game is made from the highest quality materials and uses 100% FSC approved wood. It’s also light, portable and very easy to carry for children.
My twin girls loved Shut the Box. They found it helpful with their addition skills and more importantly it was a lot of fun to play.

It is beautifully packaged and craftsmanship is 5 star quality. It’s a very reasonable cost for a great game. I highly recommend Shut the Box as a fantastic family board game.
My final thoughts
Jaques of London has really opened my eyes to the many games that are available and the two games I was sent were of the highest quality. They are brilliant new editions to our collection of games and I know will be using them for years to come. Jaques of London manufacture and sell quality products at reasonable prices, what more can you ask for?
This is a paid collaboration with Jaques of London. All thoughts and opinions are 100% mine.
