[AD] Recipes For Lockdown

May 11, 2020

We are now in our seventh week of lockdown and one of the biggest things we have missed as a family is going out to different restaurants to enjoy all different types of meals and being able to experience new foods from different parts of world. Sadly because of the pandemic that is sweeping across the world all the restaurants are now closed until further notice.

The fact that we can’t go out for family meals and that we’re adhering to the stay home policy, has got us all thinking that we can at least get more creative in the kitchen and cook ourselves restaurant standard recipes from SquareMeal that we can all enjoy during lockdown and of course beyond that.

We have over the last six/seven weeks found one of the most enjoyable times of the day is mealtimes, and in particular our evening meal. Prepping our meal and having our children involved in preparing the meal is a fantastic way to form a strong family bond and because the children have had a part in helping to get the meal ready they have been eating all that is on their plate and forming a very healthy balanced diet for the rest of their lives. This has led to a very enjoyable evening meal.

We have been using recipes from SquareMeal on a regular basis. They have restaurant standard recipes from some of the best chefs in the UK and from around the world. Most are easy to make and can be cooked in a very short time and you get a restaurant type of meal in your home during the lockdown. It’s been fantastic to have the feel of a restaurant meal in our home and even when lockdown has finished we will definitely be carrying this on. I hope it becomes a family tradition in our home.

There will of course come a time when lockdown will be eased and it will consequently be totally lifted meaning that everybody can start thinking about booking a venue for different celebrations such as weddings, parties, meet-ups and numerous other different types of events.

SquareMeal offer a full listing of venues for all types of celebrations and all their listings have a hygiene rating which is very important when picking a place for example for a wedding. A couple of places that would be perfect for a wedding which are listed on SquareMeal in London are The Shanghai-la hotel at the Shard or The Orangery at Holland Park.

You could also be looking to book a family milestone birthday lunch once lock-down is lifted. SquareMeal has the listing for the top 100 restaurants in the UK. So if you were in Bristol you could book the Casamia which is number 5 on the list or if you lived in Cornwall you could book the Outlaws Fish Kitchen which is number 28 on the list.

Eventually life will return to some sort of normality and we will be able to start getting out again and enjoying family meals at our favourite restaurants, but while we are in lockdown we can of course cook the brilliant restaurant standard recipes at home. Now I have used them I will still be using them long after lockdown has been lifted.

I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
