Combat These Travel Annoyances!
Travel is so much fun, but it can be annoying when the following issues make you uncomfortable on your trip. Read on to find out more, and what you can do to prevent them spoiling your next trip!

Mosquito bites
Mosquito bites can be a real pain when you’re travelling. In certain parts of the world, mosquitos can carry dangerous illnesses so if this is the case you’ll need to take extra precautions such as getting vaccinated. However, even in places where they’re harmless, mosquito bites can be so itchy and uncomfortable. Some people are like magnets to mozzies and end up getting bitten like crazy! Applying plenty of mosquito repellent can help, but being aware of where you’re most likely to be bitten is useful. In some places mosquitos are more active during the day, others it’s dusk and dawn that they tend to strike so do your research. Aim to wear long, light layers to protect yourself during the worst periods of the day for bites and keep away from areas mosquitos love such as bodies of standing water and woodlands. Products like mosquito bite itch relief are a saviour to combat the irritating sensation if you do get caught short and bitten while you’re away.
Sunburn
Sunburn is no joke, not only is it dangerous but it can put a real dampener on your holiday. It’s sore and painful and all of your clothes rub against it meaning it’s difficult to just forget about. Slather yourself with high protection SPF every day at least 30 minutes before going into the sun. Someone else will need to apply to your back and shoulders to make sure everything is covered. Don’t forget your face, ears, feet, even the top of your head which the sun will burn if you’re not wearing a hat. Reapplying after swimming is important too. These days you can get invisible spray SPF which can be easier to apply than cream and cover a large area quickly making it super efficient.
Chafing
Chafing can be really uncomfortable, it tends to happen when we’re travelling due to a mixture of hotter weather making us sweat and more walking and moving around causing friction. There are various balms and powders that can be effective, and choosing the right clothing can help too. Moisture wicking fabrics can help, and despite being mainly marketed to women, things like Snag ‘chub rub’ shorts can be useful for men too and worn under regular shorts. They provide a lightweight fabric barrier on your skin to prevent any painful sticking and rubbing.
Poor sleep
A restful night’s sleep is the foundation for a fantastic trip, but many of us struggle to sleep while we’re away. Equip yourself with travel essentials to ensure a peaceful slumber- a travel pillow and a soothing eye mask and noise-canceling headphones or earplugs can drown out disturbances. If the heat is an issue, aim to book a room which offers good air conditioning, or ask at reception if there’s a fan you can hire. Most hotels have these either available in the rooms or to hire if you’re in a warmer climate and having that cool air circulating can make all the difference.
