Fathers Guide to Visiting Disney World Florida

August 18, 2023

We are a Disney family. We love everything about Disney, whether it be a family film night watching a classic Disney film or visiting Disneyland Paris, which we have been fortunate enough to do twice when our eleven year old twin girls were younger.

Disney is really a place of dreams and magic and when we visited Disneyland Paris, for us, as parents, the most magical moment was watching our twin girls open mouthed enjoying the magic of meeting Mickey Mouse or Captain America. It really is a memory that will live with me forever. It was just totally magical and totally wonderful.

Our dream as a family is to visit the home of Disney, which is Disney world Florida. This is where it was all started by Walt Disney all those years ago. Our plan is to start organising a trip to Disney world Florida next year. So as a dad I have to think about what I want to do as a family but also what I want to achieve while visiting.

After doing some research online I have put together a guide of what a fathers guide to visiting Disney world Florida would look like. Here are few suggestions for dads going to Disney world Florida that I have found through my research online.

1. Cost

Disney World Florida, which when Walt Disney opened it all those years ago, was meant to be a reasonably priced holiday vacation. That is not the case anymore as it is now a premier vacation destination and the cost of going and staying there will be reflected in the costing. My tip is, if you’re going to go you will spend more than you want, but after all it’s Disney World so whatever you spend it will be worth it.

2. Early start

An early start will help you have a much better experience. It gets hot by lunchtime so the earlier you start the more enjoyable it will be. Also the lines are shorter first thing in the morning for your favourite rides meaning there will be no need for fast passes.

3. Planning your trip

This is probably the best advice I can offer having been to Disneyland Paris a couple of times. I found that planning what you are going to do everyday is something I would apply to a visit to Disney World Florida.

Plan your meal plans for everyday, what you want see, what rides you want to go on and be organised and stick to it so it’s a magic holiday and you have achieved everything you want to.

4. Make sure you have everything you need in a Rucksack

A rucksack is an absolute and make sure it’s packed with all the essentials you need for kids and yourself. The last thing you want to do is forget something and have to return to your resort hotel. It’s a big place, and going back will take a lot out of your day.

5. Buying souvenirs for the kids

The amount of souvenirs available to buy at Disney World Florida is massive so your kids are going to be asking for everything. This is where you need to be strong and maybe leave it a couple of days before you buy anything and on the third day tell the kids they can have some souvenirs, but so you don’t spend a fortune put a limit on the spend for that day.

6. Wearing the right shoes

Disney World Florida is huge and involves a lot of walking so make sure you have a good quality comfortable shoes that can cope with a lot of walking.

7. Heat

A couple of tips to deal with the heat in Orlando is to walk in the shade, wear a hat and don’t forget your sunglasses or have a portable mist fan to stay cool.

8. Having a break in the afternoon

The heat in Disney World Florida is relentless so consider having a mid afternoon break so heading back to your air conditioned hotel room to recuperate and get you ready for the next part of the day.

9. Making sure you stay hydrated

Disney World Florida can get very hot and humid so it’s very important that you carry plenty of water to say hydrated. Some hotels do offer free bottles of water in the morning and this could save you money.

10. Finding the best way to great around

Work out the best ways to get around Disney World Florida. There are many types of transport such as buses, monorails, steamboats, or the Disney skyliner. All of these transports will help you get from park to park in a relaxed atmosphere.

So there are some tips when planning a trip to Disney World Florida. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear in comments below.
