How Covid-19 Has Impacted Our Lives

June 6, 2022

The last few years have without doubt been very difficult for many reasons.

All the difficulties that we have had to endure over the last three years can be firmly rooted to the global pandemic, Covid-19. Many of us have suffered financial hardship that we would not have experienced in our lifetimes ever before. Here are few of the things that have impacted our lives during and after the global pandemic.

As Covid-19 spread across the world like a wildfire many nations across the world quickly realised that the only way to slow down the spread was to keep the human race at a distance and enforce lockdowns. Covid-19 is very infectious and that meant we would have to live in bubbles of just our immediate family. The consequences of this also meant that many people worked from home and sadly many people lost their jobs as businesses closed their doors.

1. Employment

As I have already mentioned many businesses had to close their doors. Such businesses include restaurants, theatres, shops, car dealerships and many more retail type businesses had to close to stop the spread of coronavirus. Of course this meant that anybody working in these types of businesses lost their jobs with no way of paying their bills. Thankfully the government did step in with help but it still meant that many people felt hardship through unemployment.

2. Transport

One thing that we used a lot less than normal during the pandemic due to lockdowns was our cars. First of all government guidance was to only use our vehicles for necessary journeys such as shopping or making sure our elderly relatives were ok. Our fuel costs dropped dramatically simply because we weren’t using our cars as often.

During the pandemic we would have replaced our family car, but because the car dealerships were closed it was something that we decided we could put off to a later date when our lives returned to some sort of normality.

That time has now arrived, some three years later, for us to change our family car. Something we did a lot more of during the pandemic was going on a staycation for the obvious reason that people weren’t allowed to travel abroad. In particular we developed a love of camping. So we are looking for a car that is larger than what we have now so we can fit all camping equipment in, oh yes and the kids!

We don’t have an unlimited budget and know how much we would like to spend on a new car so it would be very useful to know before we visit the car dealership how much we will need to borrow and the cost of repayments. While browsing the internet I came across CarPaymentCalculator.net which was brilliant. You just input how much the car you’re interested in buying is and it calculates your repayments in seconds so you instantly know if it fits with your monthly budget.

With many other issues that are happening in the world such as the war in the Ukraine, the cost of fuel is now the most expensive it has been in history so it would be very useful to use an MPG Calculator to give you an idea of fuel costs. So when looking for a new car it’s important that we find a family car that is economical as well and has been environmentally friendly which means we will definitely be looking at hybrid or full electrical cars. Not only will that save money on fuel costs but we will be helping planet earth for future generations.

The effects and impacts of the global pandemic have had many dramatic effects on our lives and even though it’s a few years ago since it started it is still impacting our lives. Thankfully not as severely as those early days of the pandemic.

Is the global pandemic still impacting your life or not? I would love to hear in the comments below.
