How To Help Your Teenagers To Have A Digital Detox

October 27, 2025

We live in a world that is heavily based on technology and the devices that use this tech. The question I often ask myself is: it a better or worse world to the one I grew up in?

The truth is, yes it is better on some levels but it also has disadvantages. Quite simply I think it’s better because technology makes it easier to access absolutely everything. For example, your bank account or shopping, ordering a take away etc. It’s all there in the palm of your hand. The hassle of having to battle the high street is no longer and for me that’s a huge bonus.

I’m a father of thirteen year old twin girls and if I’m honest they actually don’t know what life is like without technology and their devices such as mobile phones, iPads or laptops.

The girls in my opinion definitely spend far too much time on their devices, and quite often they’re just playing games or scrolling through Snapchat or You Tube for hours on end. One of the consequences of this is that they don’t interact and talk to us as much as we’d like as a family or to each other.

Every now and then it’s important that they have a digital detox and put down their devices so that they can do something that is not completely digital based. If you are having the same issues with your teenage child and their use of their tech devices, here are some suggestions to help them have a digital detox.

When I was a child there was a big thing about collecting trading cards such as football cards, Pokémon or magic cards. Actually, it was literally any type of cards and it definitely seems to have lost its way a bit, but not anymore because Axion Now Events is a community based company that organises events where you can play trading card games such as Magic The Gathering or Lorcana face-to-face with like-minded people.

Axion Now Events hold events all over the country where you can meet artists, win prizes, buy and trade cards.

Axion Now Events vision is to become the European leader in delivering trading card games for the mind and to bring together a community of diverse people with one common passion and created an environment of happiness and enjoyment for everybody to enjoy.

Do you struggle to get your teenage children to have a digital detox? Then why not get them involved with Magic The Gathering or Lorcana, the trading cards games where they can be part of a like minded community.
