How To Improve Your Dress Sense

July 7, 2021

When was the last time you looked in the mirror and felt good about what you saw? We’ve all heard of being stylish, but there is so much more to style than you think. Your dress sense, for example, needs to match your personality. You can be sensible about your dress sense but what about what feels good, or what looks good? You deserve to wear your clothing with confidence, and sometimes that means improving it with a few changes here and there.

Whether you try out men’s military streetwear fashion or you start wearing more suits, you need to do what works for you to be able to feel comfortable in what you’re wearing. What you wear day to day affects your mood, and it affects the way people treat you, too. If you’re too “out there”, people assume that you must be a daydreamer without a job. If you only wear suits, you are perceived as being “stuffy”. Fashion can be simple, but we’ve got some tips and tricks that can help you to improve your personal dress sense and make getting dressed a pleasure.

  1. Consider the occasion. Being dressed according to the occasion of the day is important! If you have work, you should dress appropriately for what you’ve got going on today. If you have a family event to attend, make sure that you have outfits to fit the day! Notice how you are made to feel by the clothes that you are wearing, and you will also notice how people treat you as a result.
  2. Embrace colors. So many men leave out the colorful stuff, believing that they need only to dress in dark colors like navy blue, gray and black. Even brown suits make an appearance from time to time, but you can embrace some color in your wardrobe and still be effective and confident in your day. Neutral colors may be good for business but they can be boring! Add in the bright colors and you will feel good about it.
  3. Remember your shoes. Shoes are a huge part of your style, and your shoes should match your outfit. You wouldn’t pair a sexy suit with crocs, would you? Well, we’d hope not. If you don’t want to hoard piles of shoes, make sure that you have a few types: sneakers for the gym, casual slip ons for going out and a pair of work shoes. Just ensure that they are the highest possible quality.

Get fitted. Do you measure your body regularly enough to know that your clothes are fitting you properly? You need to try on clothes and know that the clothing you choose fits you. If clothes don’t fit you properly, you will find that they can look sloppy – something you want to avoid. Head to a tailor for your suits, get your feet measured before you buy shoes and always check your jeans are going to fit you so you don’t have to pay out for a belt to add to the outfit.
