Making My Personal Injury Claim After A Car Accident
A few years I was doing a lot of travelling by car and most of this was motorway driving. When you’re racking up hundred of miles per month there is a higher risk of being involved in an accident. I guess it’s the law of averages.

One journey I had to make on a very regular basis was from South Wales to the South coast of England. The reason why I was making this journey on a regular basis is because my daughter was in university in Southampton. My daughter usually wanted to come home during the holidays and in fact sometimes just for the weekend. Of course being a university student she couldn’t really afford the train and she didn’t have a car, so it was down to me to drive down to Southampton to pick her up and then drive her back when she re-started back at university.
It was four years ago at Christmas she was coming home for the Christmas holidays and she also asked if I could bring her friend back home at the same time. The motorways were a lot busier than normal due to the Christmas holidays approaching.
The drive back was a trip I knew well, but there was one part of the journey where the road narrows and the traffic can come to a standstill, which on this particular day, it did come to a stop. Unfortunately for my passengers and I the car behind didn’t see that the traffic had stop and they drove straight into the rear of my car at about 40mph. It was quite a hard impact jolting us forward and then recoiling back.
I was in a no fault situation with the car accident so I swapped insurance details. Thankfully even though there was a lot of damage to the rear of my vehicle I was able to drive it home which was very fortunate.
This happened on the weekend so I couldn’t get much sorted until the Monday morning. I rang my insurance company with the details of the accident and gave them all the information about the other drivers car details etc.
It was on the Monday morning when I woke up that I started to feel achy and had pain in my shoulders and neck which was I believed to be whiplash so I made a doctors appointment to get myself checked out. The doctor confirmed that I had indeed suffered a whiplash injury due to the accident. The doctor told me that with rest and physiotherapy it would get better but it would take time and could impact my job as a painter and decorator.
I knew that a decision needed to be made along with obviously making a claim for the damage to my car, I would also need to make a personal injury claim to compensate me for the injuries I suffered because of the fault of another person in this case the driver that rear ended my car. I decided that it wasn’t my fault and it was impacting my life and my ability to earn money which is why I decided to make a claim.
I quickly discovered that when you have to make a personal injury claim there are a number of things that you need to keep in mind. First of all your car insurance won’t be able to sort this out for you. You will need to find a specialist company that can sort out your personal injury claim.
There are many companies out there that offer this service of personal injury claims and many of them will offer you the earth. That is why it’s very important to do some research and find a company that has a proven track record with good reviews and a good record of success such as OH Parsons who offer a no win no fee deal and are regulated by The Solictors Regulation Authority. In addition, they are always there on the end of the phone to help guide you though the process.
You could also look at solicitors in London or in your local area. When I made my personal injury claim I was initially contacted to give the exact details of the car accident and injuries that I suffered as a consequence of the car accident. They then started the process of the claim.
The next part of the process was to have a medical examination by an independent doctor to assess my injuries and how they have impacted my life. This was done so they could work out how much my monetary compensation that we would be claiming is. I have to admit this was a very easy process and was handled with the upmost care and respect.
Once the medical report was done and all the details of the car accident and my injuries were known, a monetary figure was then decided upon to claim for in relation to my personal injury claim.
The whole process was left in the hands of the company dealing with my personal injury claim. I was given regular updates as to how it was progressing and I was offered an amount to settle the personal injury claim. I decided to take the first offer because it matched the figure that I had lost in wages after the accident and I was happy it covered that.
The whole process of making a personal injury claim was easy and I was really pleased with the outcome which I think was also in part to me doing my research and finding a reputable company such as OH Parsons to deal with my personal injury claim.
