Savisto Ice Cream Maker Review

Who loves ice cream?

Yup, so do I! I never actually knew though, that you can make your own ice cream from the comfort of your home!

I was recently sent an ice cream maker from Savisto to review. It costs £34.99, which I think is a pretty good price.

The freezing bowl has a 1.5 litre capacity which I think is perfect for homemade ice cream. It means the freezing bowl can fit inside the majority of freezers quite nicely and it also means you can make a decent amount of ice cream.

Included in the box you’ll find a handy 133 page recipe book which is great as there are lots of different flavour options, as well as sorbet recipes.

The freezing bowl is removable which makes it really easy to clean. Before making your ice cream you need to put the freezing bowl into your freezer for 8-12 hours.

I decided to start easy with a simple vanilla ice cream recipe. With our ingredients ready and our bowl cold enough I made a start.

You need to make sure the ice cream maker is switched on before you add your ingredients otherwise it’ll instantly freeze in the bowl. The great thing about this ice cream maker is that there’s a funnel which allows for ingredients to be added while the machine is in motion.

This ice cream maker has a digital time and display which is good for keeping check on how long your ice cream has been churning.

The first thing we needed to do was to add the cream and milk together, then heat it over a low heat. You need to remove it from the heat just before it starts to boil. You then need to add the vanilla extract and allow it to infuse for 30 minutes.

Then you need to mix the eggs with the sugar, and gradually stir in the milk and cream mixture before returning to a low heat until the mixture is like ‘custard’ and covers the back of a spoon. When ready you need to sieve the mixture into a bowl, then allow it cool, before pouring it into the ice cream maker via the funnel.

I left the ice cream to churn for 40 minutes, but you can adjust the settings if needed by pressing the reset button. This adjusts the time by 5 minutes per press.

I really like that the ice cream make is quite compact, plus it’s not noisy either. All of the accessories are detachable for easy cleaning and storage.

The recipe was easy to follow and our vanilla ice cream tastes pretty good!
Overall, I’m very pleased with the ice cream maker!
