Star Wars Films and Lego

Over the last 50 years or so there have been a number of films that have turned into very successful franchises. These films have not only taken the world by storm and become highly successful, they have also become a very important part of some people’s lives. Harry Potter, Star Trek and Indiana Jones are just a few. They’re now held in the highest regard to being some of the best films ever made and yes, they are fantastic entertainment.

For me personally, the best series of films ever made were the Star Wars films. When you look back to the first trilogy of Star Wars films made from 1977-1983, the genius that is George Lucas is plain for all to see. His creativity and imagination is incredible. Firstly to think up the idea of Star Wars and then turn it into a film that was not only believable, but also where all of the action sequences of spaceships fighting in the universe looked incredibly real. In addition, making the aliens and robots likeable and almost human. George Lucas was undoubtedly a man before his time.

I loved getting lost in the Star Wars films. It’s pure escapism and the more I watch them, the more I loved all the different characters. Like many fans of the Star Wars films I had my favourite characters.

My absolute favourite character ever will always be Han Solo. He was cocky, funny and probably quite selfish but underneath this big headed character was somebody that really cared, and he would always try to defeat Darth Vader and help the empire and of course Princess Leah and Luke Skywalker. Harrison Ford played the role to perfection.

Of course Han Solo’s spaceship was the Millennium Falcon which was an amazing spaceship flown of course by Han Solo and his sidekick Chewbacca. Whenever they were in need of escaping quickly you never knew if the Millennium Falcon would work properly because it was a very temperamental spaceship. This always added extra tension in every scene involving the Millennium Falcon.

My love of Star Wars has been complimented over the years by my love of Lego. I have been able to combine both of these passions because Lego make so many of the Star Wars spaceships and characters.
