Supporting Your Children With Their Sporting Endeavours
When I was growing up, sport was either played in school or at the local park. I loved playing football with my mates on the weekend and quite often the game would go on for hours.

Times have definitely changed and the opportunities for children today to get involved with sport is absolutely brilliant. There is probably a club for every type of sport for children. This is of course brilliant because we are teaching our children to be active and get involved in sport instead of course being stuck behind a computer at home for hours on end.
Sport of course can be an avenue for a career after they have left school and they can go to university to study something related to sport and have amazing facilities to improve their chosen sport.
My ten year old twin girls are no different to a lot of other children nowadays as they are involved in a variety of sports from football, gymnastics, tennis and netball to name a few. I love the way the girls are happy to throw themselves into a sport and really try improving and get better at whatever sport they are playing.
Here are a selection of sports that children can get involved with and how they can get involved.
1. Tennis
When I was growing up the only place to play tennis was the local court. That usually only had one court and you had to book well in advance.
Nowadays there are tennis clubs all over the place and they have coaching sessions to help children learn the game of tennis.
We are very fortunate to have a tennis club just around the corner where we live and the girls have been attending tennis lessons for sometime.

If your child plays any sport it is important that they have the right equipment and tennis is particularly important that you have the correct size and type of Tennis Racket so they can be better at tennis and it is an enjoyable experience for them. If you are looking for a quality tennis racket and other equipment for your child then I highly recommend you check out Tennis HQ. They have everything you could possibly need to kit out your child to learn and start playing tennis.
2. Football
One of my twin girls is totally obsessed with football. She actually plays three times a week. Her love of football developed from watching football on television and particular the lionesses in the Euros

To encourage her, we signed her up to our local club where she trains once a week and plays games on a Sunday. As it happens, I ended up coaching her football team so if you are looking to get your child into football there are thousands of local clubs nationwide you could sign up too.
3. Netball
Netball is definitely a growing sport and it usually starts in school for most children which is exactly what one of my daughters is doing – playing netball in after school club.
She was recently approached to see if she wanted to join a netball club where they play competitive games every week. It certainly has given her food for thought. We will see if she takes it any further.
4. Gymnastics
My other twin girl showed an interest in gymnastics. Finding a gymnastics club without a waiting list to join is actually very difficult. Thankfully we could find one and it only had a short waiting list and she was able to start her gymnastics journey. It’s been a great journey and she has been entered into competitions and has come away with medals. She has shown a real commitment to gymnastics and most importantly loves it and enjoys every moment she is at the gym.
Teaching children the benefits of sport is so very important. It will keep them active, teach them a competitive edge and encourage keeping fit in general. These are all attributes that they can take into adulthood.
Children can learn so much from sport and encouraging them to participate in sport is a very important life lesson.
Do your children play sport? I would love to hear what sports they play in the comments below.

Great post, it’s so important to get kids active and involved in sport they can love for life. It can be such a challenge though as the pull of screens and technology is so strong!
