Check Them Over Yourself

The first thing that you are going to need to do is check them over yourself. Take their temperature, ask them how they are feeling, ask them what or if anything is hurting, and try to get as much information as you can from them. If they were injured at school, then see what the school has to say and if they have any more information that you can use. If they don’t, then you just need to go off of what your child says.

Make sure you are really listening to every little detail that they say, and encourage them to not leave anything out even if they don’t think that it’s important. Sometimes it’s the minor details that help us with what to do next.

Take Them To The Doctor If Needed

If your child needs to go to a doctor, then get them an appointment booked as soon as possible. Or, if you think that their injury or illness is more serious than this, then you should take them to the hospital. We know that a lot of football players in high school for example end up breaking bones or hurting themselves on the field, and injuries like this should be looked at by a doctor.

The doctor will be able to tell you what the next thing that you should be doing is. It will all depend on what has been going on, if anything is broken, and what kind of state your child is in. In some cases, they may need to see a specialist such as an orthopedic surgeon if there is a break or something, or they may just need to be closely monitored for a little while.

Always Keep An Eye On It

The final thing that we are going to say is that you should always be keeping an eye on what is going on with the injury or sickness. You should always be looking for signs that it is getting worse, checking in with your kid to make sure that they are feeling okay and so on. This is one of the most important parts of having a poorly child, so make sure that you do it.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the steps that you should be taking if your child is injured or sick. We understand that this is going to be a tough time for you, but you have got to try and remain as rational and calm as you possibly can. You getting worked up is not going to help your child, you’ve got to do your best to help them – meaning you need to think clearly.
