Where Is The Best Place In The World To Work From Home

It has now been a couple of years since the pandemic and life in general has definitely returned to some sort of normality. If I’m honest, it’s a real pleasure not having to live with lockdowns and vaccinations.

There have been some changes in our lives and in particular, our working lives. Before the pandemic it was actually unusual if you worked from home however, the pandemic changed that forever and now working from home is very normal and totally acceptable as a work practice.

Caunce O’Hara the business insurance brokers did research to find out where is the best place in the world to work from home with their campaign: The Worlds Best Locations For Remote Working and some of the findings are particularly interesting.

If you are self-employed or a freelancer, you can actually work anywhere in the world and nowadays many people are combining short term travel and work. They’re basically becoming a digital nomad and that seems to me to be a brilliant way to do your job.

The research done is very extensive and they’ve created a unique scoring system with indicators to work out which is best country to work from home and consequently, which is the best country to go to if you want to combine travel and working from home.

The scoring indicators took into account visa flexibility, the cost of a single flight from London, the number of co-working spaces, number of daylight hours, average internet speeds and average cost of rent, beer and coffee.

The research found these very surprising results.

• Cape Verde had the cheapest coffee, visa cost and rent
• Iceland had the longest daylight hours
• Portugal had the least time difference from the UK
• Spain had the longest visa stay, cheapest visa, fastest internet speed and most coworking spaces
• Italy had the cheapest cost of a single flight
• Malta and Australia are predominantly English-speaking countries
• Dubai has the least rainfall 
• And Georgia has the cheapest beer

Who would have thought that Cape Verde had the cheapest coffee at just 86p on average or Georgia the cheapest beer.

The winner of the best place for remote working is Spain. Spain won the overall top spot for best working environment which was due to its high download speeds, a large number of co-working spaces and it also had the longest maximum daylight hours.
