Working from Home with Kids: Survival Tips
Today, remote learning and working are quite popular thanks to the opportunities they provide. Previously, parents on maternity leave had either to quit their jobs or hire a babysitter and buy an organic baby formula to replace breast milk. Luckily, modern mothers can benefit from survival tips that other caregivers use while working or studying at home with their kids. These are some of them.
Tip #1. Keep Your Baby Close to You
The biggest mistake is to separate a kid from your working environment. Babies always want to be close to a parent, so it is better to create a separate comfortable place for a child beside you. It can be a space for playing, reading, drawing, painting, and other catchy activities. Do not forget to make the place safe because you will be distracted by your job and safety measures are significant. Due to that, you create a win-win situation: you work – kids are busy.
Tip #2. Devote Time to Kids
It’s important to rest and do something together for at least 15 minutes. For example, you can prepare snacks, create some DIY, paint, color pages, or busy yourself with some other pleasant activities like dancing, singing, etc. Kids will appreciate and remember the time you spend together. Thanks to that, they will not get upset because of “mommy being always busy” because of the fun you have just had together.
Tip #3. Create a Do-to-List
Kids like being busy. They get bored when they have nothing to do. The best way is to create attractive routine schedules and include entertainment.
For example, the first to-do list can have responsibilities like making a bed, cleaning, doing morning exercises, and brushing their teeth. Your entertainment list can include watching TV or playing games when your kid is entertaining while you are having lunch or resting. So, while you work kids should do their responsibilities and tick the finished tasks. Afterward, you will tick entertainment activities together.
Tip #4. Find Something That Absorbs All Your Kid’s Attention
Some kids cannot stop watching cartoons, some enjoy looking at pictures, and some delight in reading. You should find something useful to keep your child quiet while you have online meetings.
Tip #5. Don’t set high expectations
You shouldn’t find a full-time job, however. It must be freelancing or some part-time job because babies need their parents beside them. If it’s possible, you should share parenting with your partner or another caregiver.
