10 moments that brought a tear to eye

May 12, 2015

I have never been afraid to show emotion and there have been some defining moments that have brought a tear to my eye.

When I thought about writing this post I discovered you cry for different reasons. Your tears can be happy, sad, proud and worrying. It fascinates me that your emotions are defined by different circumstances so here are 10 moments that made me cry.
1. When all my children were born it brought a tear to my eye, but in particular when my twin girls came into the world I was a wreck because they were six weeks early and I suppose it was because they had finally been delivered safely.
2. After my three year old twins were born within hours R had to go on a ventilator. This was such a shock to my system. She was so little and so vulnerable and I felt completly useless. I broke down not really knowing what to do.

3. Having to tell my three oldest children that I was leaving their mother, but not them was very difficult to deal with. Allthough I never cried in front of them once I was on my own my emotions took over.
4. When my second eldest daughter was in year 6 they had a sports presentation evening in school and she was named footballer and cricketer of the year. I was so proud that it brought tears to my eyes.
5. When the dog Marley died in the film Marley and it me made me a cry! I have no idea why, but it was just so sad and so well acted!
6. When I got married to my wife E. When we were saying our vows I was overwhelmed and tears just started rolling down my cheeks. They were incredibly happy tears as I was marrying the love of my life.
7. On another occasion I was at a football tournament with my second eldest daughter E. It was one of those days when everything went right! Her team won the tournament and she was named player of the day. I was incredibly proud which made me emotional. Pride was just bursting out of me.
8. When we had been home for about 6 months with the twins it was hard and we had little or no help and I was speaking to my eldest daughters and it became too much explaining how hard it was. It was very difficult times, but thankfully we are over that now.
9. After I left my eldest three children’s mother my son left me a note in my car so I would find it. It said that he missed me and loved me. It destroyed me completly
10. I was living away and had a phone call to say my grandmother had passed away to whom I was very close. I had spent a big part of my childhood in her home. I cried for a couple of days. I suppose it was because I never got to say goodbye.
I believe people should show their emotions and not be frightened to say yes I have cried, especially men.

I have to say since my kids were born I've been an emotional wreck, lol I cry at a drop of a hat now, where as before it took a lot, the joys of being a dad I guess 🙂

Being a dad brings great emotion and you find yourself being different and changed after having kids! I think what it is, is that they bring the softer side out in you! Thank you for linking on #wineandboobs

I loved this post, the honesty actually made me feel emotional. Beautiful, sad and poignant moments in your life. My husband is too upper stuff lip sometimes, I wish he'd at least cried when our children were born. Although I have seen him cry. Thank you for sharing this #wineandboobs

What a touching post. I cry at the drop of a hat now..whether it be One Born Every Minute or burning the dinner!! M makes me cry a lot, they are both tears of joy and sometimes frustration. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I think having a good cry is a good thing! 🙂 #binkylinky

This is such a beautiful post. So honest & heartfelt. Being a dad or mum & watching your little ones be born & grow into such independent beings is such an incredible & emotional thing to witness. I hate it when people think crying is a sign of weakness. I think it's a sign of strength & love. Chloe x #binkylinky

This is so lovely. I really felt for you with the note in the car. How heartbreaking but a credit to how much of a good Dad you must be. My hubby cries now and then. It's a good thing. You need to let it out somehow or you will end up feeling so horrible. Think little ones make you way more emotional…well then or just being knackered!! #binkylinky

I've probably cried more in the three years since my daughter was born than in the previous twenty.

I agree with some of the other dads, I've cried so much since the birth of my first child it's crazy. The silliest thing will cause me to tear up. Thanks for your honesty. #BigTopBlogParty

I love this post! From a womans point of view (my opinion), it's good when a man has a cry!
