Its My 1,000th Post Today
Today is my 1000th post and a very good friend of mine in the blogging world asked if I was going to write anything special. I never really thought about it, but hey ho, I will write about it in a blog post. Not very special I guess, but a milestone I decided was worth recording on my blog.

This is my 1000th post and if I’m honest it’s frightening that I have managed to publish 1000 posts in about two and half years. When I started back in October 2014 I thought to myself I would post a couple of times a week and I would probably get bored within a couple of months because if I’m honest I have never tended to stick to anything. I have always easily tired of things very quickly.
What I didn’t take into account was how addictive and obsessive blogging was to become for me. I actually realised very quickly that I enjoyed writing and this is from a person that in truth had never really written anything or in fact read that much in their life, but I found that I actually really enjoyed writing, especially about my family.
I had huge doubts over what I was going to write and whether it was was going to be of any interest to anybody or engage the reader to read my ramblings. Amazingly even after a thousand posts I still think that now. Part of the reason for that is I’m not a confident person naturally. I always hoped my readers would engage. I do tend to say it as it is, and if my readers are able to take something away from reading one of my posts that was bonus.
As the weeks passed, I found I myself really enjoying my writing about either DIY or parenting, and I particularly enjoyed writing about my children and all the things they get up to. The weeks turned into months and I found that I was beginining to write a little about my own life, my childhood and starting to re-live some of the very dysfunctional upbringing that I had been through because I guess for the want of a better word my life at times has been confused and messed up. Writing it down enabled me to come to terms with so much and lay some demons to rest.
After about six months I kind of made a decision that I wanted to post everyday which was a very big decision because first of all it’s time consuming and secondly I wanted to make sure it was well written, engaging and interesting, and believe me that is some huge task. Hopefully I have achieved that.
I seem to never be short of an idea for a blog post and inspiration is never far away. The reason is, I imagine, is because having five children and my own life experiences give me an unlimited amount of ideas or experiences to write about.
When I started blogging which I must say was more of an accident than anything, it has now turned into a life changing experience and has led me into opportunities that I never thought possible. It has made me more extrovert which is really strange because I’m ultimately an introvert so being recognised if only in the blogging world is a very surreal experience.
I have been featured more times than I thought possible and have been very fortunate to have worked with some amazing brands which I have been paid for, that still amazes me even now, that people think I am worthy of being featured or that brands want to work with me.
The last 1,000 posts for me have been at times fun, but also difficult depending on what I was writing about. The last 1,000 posts have been a rollercoaster ride of emotion, fun and laughter.
I hope that anybody that has read any of my posts has enjoyed them first and foremost, and if they managed to take something from them that’s a bonus for me.
One moment is always going to stand out for me in the last 1,000 posts and that was last June when I was named in top 10 Dad bloggers in the the UK 2016 by Vuelio
In the last two and half years I have so many people to thank. First of all, thank you to anybody that has read, shared or commented on any of my posts. It has always meant the world to me. Blog love is one of the nicest things in the world, and it’s lovely that’s it’s alive and kicking.
There are a few special mentions that I want to make. First up, Alan at Omg it’s a girl. Martyn at Inside Martyn’s Thoughts. Rod at Modern Dad Pages and David at Dad v World. Guys you are the best! Thank you for the shares and support and friendship. Another awesome supporter of my blog and myself is John at Dad Blog UK. I can’t thank you enough for your support and help. Finally I would like to thank Dave at The Dadventurer. When dealing with brands his help to me on how much to charge etc, has been invaluable and always having the time to reply to messages is really appreciated.
There is one person above all else, my wife, Emily who blogs at Twin Mummy and Daddy, who without her love and support and listening to me having a melt-down over my blog, reading my drafts and always giving me her honest opinion and helping me so much. Emily got me started on blogging and that is something I will always be grateful for. I love you so very much xx
So that’s it! My 1,000th post. The next target is 2,000, now that’s a mountain to climb!
