5 tricks for dads to stay sane and calm during the lockdown
The Covid-19 pandemic has been the most difficult year in the history of the human race and as country after country went into a full lockdown with everything closing including all the schools. Families were stuck at home in their own family bubble.

I was of course no different to anybody else and all of a sudden I was plunged into staying at home with my family which included my eight year old twin girls because I was unable to work. This, I have to admit was quite a shock to the system.
During this time staying calm and sane especially with my girls around all the time, which involved home schooling, was very difficult so I had to think of different ideas or tricks to keep myself sane and calm especially when the girls were bored.
Here are my 5 tricks for staying calm and sane during lockdown and should the worst happen and we are put into lockdown again, I will be definitely be using the same tricks again.
1. Cycling
This was a lifesaver for me during lockdown. I have always cycled a lot, and it’s a great stress reliever to just get out on the bike and the freedom that it offers is fantastic. I could cycle everyday during lockdown just to recharge my brain and have some me time. It’s also great exercise.
2. Me Time
Sometimes during the day when we were all in lockdown life could become all consuming and there was no doubt that lockdown became overwhelming so just taking a 10 minute break was in order just to sit down and have a cup of tea or smoothie. To help your wellbeing and mental state and simply relax you can have a drop of Kyro CBD oil. Kyro has also been named as one of best CBD oils of 2020 check it out here.
3. Walking
We would go on family walks most days to make sure we were not looking at the same four walls and so the girls got some fresh air. We are fortunate to live very near the countryside so a walk through the woods making up games along the way is a great way to de-stress and get ready for the next part of the day.
4. Games
This is a brilliant way to totally de-stress. Playing some board games or games in general with the kids especially if it was raining on the day and you were stuck inside. A little laughter and fun made it feel as if the lockdown had gone away even if for just a while.
5. Cooking
During lockdown preparation of meals became a very important part of the day and I found that immersing myself in the kitchen making a new recipe. It was a great way to relax and it was a great way to get the girls involved in preparing their meals.
So that’s my 5 tricks that helped keep me calm and sane during lockdown. Do you have any tips? I would love to hear in the comments below.
