6 Obstacles Adulthood Throws At You…And How to Fix Them
People tend to overstate how good childhood is. On balance, it’s better to be an adult — it’s only when you’re out of childhood that you are free to do as you please with your life, after all. Still, that’s not to say that being an adult is a walk in the park. It rarely is! While it’s enjoyable to have the freedom of being an adult, it can be difficult from time to time. In this blog, we’re going to run through some of the most common obstacles that can come your way when you’re an adult, as well as offer some advice on how you can overcome them.
Slowed Down Body
Doesn’t it seem like when you were younger, you could run for days and days without getting tired? Our bodies just seem to have an incredible resistance when we’re young. But as we age, that’s no longer the case. We can begin to slow down. If we engage in some serious exercise, it can take us a while to get over it. While everyone slows down to a degree as they age, the amount that you slow down will depend on various factors. You can protect your body by practising yoga, working up a sweat, and avoiding things that will slow you down, such as fatty foods and alcohol.
Monotony
Life isn’t always comfortable when we’re in childhood, but it’s very often interesting — that’s because we’re always doing new things and being put in new environments. Once we’re in adulthood, that begins to change a little. Many of us end up doing the same things all the time. And while that can be fine, it’s also true that it can lead to an existence that’s a little bit boring. If life is going to stay interesting — and it should — then you’ll need to find ways to make it so. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and trying new things can help.
Food and Drink Issues
Some people have issues with what they can eat and drink in childhood, but most people develop issues in adulthood. For example, many people grow up eating dairy products, but when they reach a certain age, they find that it gives them some problems. Fortunately, there’s something you can do about this. The best time to fix your dairy digestion is before you eat a meal; take a digestion tablet, and you’ll be able to handle whatever dairy is on your plate! Another common problem people have when they age is finding it difficult to handle alcohol. Alas, there’s no tried and tested cure for that — the only good solution is prevention!
Growing Responsibilities
We tend to acquire more and more responsibilities as we age. It can be bills, family, work, duties to friends, and so on. These, of course, can be difficult to manage from time to time. A good solution is to, first, stay organised so you don’t miss anything, and, second, to work on giving yourself the mental headspace you need to comfortably handle the many responsibilities that life throws at you. There are plenty of good apps that can guide you through the meditation process, which will help to make things easier to manage.
Relationship Matters
There are many difficult aspects of life. But is there any aspect more difficult than a relationship? Even if you’re the perfect match, there’ll be some things that you disagree with; you will argue and go through difficult periods. And at some point or another, it’s likely that you’ll go through a bad breakup. There’s really no remedy for that other than to remember that it’s something that everyone goes through and that time will heal the wound! And if you find it really difficult to juggle these relationships of yours, then it’ll be worthwhile thinking about two things. One is that you can always get help with your relationships through things like therapy. The second is to reframe your mind: there are plenty of people who never have the chance to experience the crazy adventure of a relationship.
Finding Peace As An Adult
And finally, let’s think about finding peace. It can be difficult as an adult; or at least, it won’t come naturally. Sometimes you need to actively bring it into your life. You can do this by practising gratitude, meditating, and all-around keeping something perspective on your life. If you do those things, then you’ll avoid being wrapped up in the turmoil of adulthood that so many others find themselves in.
