A Motorhome Holiday Escape To Scotland

Being born and bred in Wales means that I have been very fortunate to see many of the most incredible natural attractions that the UK has to offer. However, it is only a small fraction of what the countries of the UK has on offer.

My dream trip is to take a Bailey motorhome for a holiday escape to Scotland. I have never been to Scotland and I would love to escape in a caravan or motorhome to the numerous lochs, national parks and the cities of cultural importance such as Edinburgh. You never know, I may even get the chance to see the Northern lights. Deciding the type of holiday you want

It’s very important to plan your holiday carefully so you can take in as many of the places you want to see in either your Bailey motorhome or caravan. Fortunately back in 2015 the North Highland initiative developed Scotland’s answer to America’s Route 66. It’s more commonly known as the NC500 (North Coast 500) and tours over 500 miles of awesome Scottish Highlands and all its glorious scenery. If you have a lot time on your hands you can start in Edinburgh and end up in Glasgow which will mean you can take the opportunity to see some of the amazing sights of the northern Lowlands. The places I would like to visit in my motorhome escape to Scotland.

1. Edinburgh

The one city that I always wanted to visit is Edinburgh. While visiting Edinburgh there will be so much to take in. In particular I would want to visit Arthur’s Seat which is the remains of an extinct volcano with stunning views of Edinburgh. Also I would like to take in Edinburgh castle, The Royal Mile, Carlton Hill and many many more.

2. Inverness

One of first stops on the NC500 is Inverness and for me it’s a must stop. It has ancient Scottish castles, mountains and riverside walks and is also very close to Loch Ness which would be cool as I have always wanted to meet the Loch Ness Monster!

3. Caithness

On the North Coast 500’s most north eastern part is Caithness. It claims to still have royal connections. It has many archaeological remnants of a bygone age. The Caithness coastline has massive sea stacks which is also home to colonies of sea birds with vertically faced headlands that jut out into the wild waters of the Pentland Firth. I would also be able visit the most northerly point in the UK mainland which is of course home to the village, John O’Groats. To see all of that in person really would be amazing.
