[AD] Exercising On Your Tricycle

November 7, 2021

As we get older it can be even more important to exercise as often as we can. It has many obvious benefits such as keeping us active which in turn keeps our body muscles working as best as they can. It’s also a great way to keep your weight down which is particularly good for your overall health. Regular exercise is also proven to keep the mind active and, as we get older and possibly retire it’s so important that we don’t turn into a couch potato.

Sometimes the problem is deciding what type of exercise is best suited to you. It could be your running days are behind you or you’re not a fan of the gym. There is one type of exercise that most of us can do no matter what our age or even if we have an illness or a disability. This is cycling and even if you can’t jump on a two wheel bike, there is no need to worry as you can still get exercise by riding a tricycle. It’s the perfect solution if you’re not as mobile as you used to be or aren’t particularly confident when riding a bike. A tricycle, as in name suggests, has three wheels. This offers stability and will allow even the most nervous or less mobile or disabled to continue exercising.

The adult tricycle has been around a very long time. In fact one of the first tricycles manufactured was in 1789 and was invented by two Frenchmen. Of course things have moved on since then and you can now get electric, mountain or just the classic tricycle so there is something that will suit your needs perfectly.

One of the biggest makers and suppliers of tricycles globally and in the UK is Jorvik Tricycles. Jorvik tricycles was founded out of love by James Walker. His father had Parkinsons and after searching for a tricycle for his dad without much luck he took the matter into his own hands and designed a tricycle for his dad. Jorvik tricycles was founded and has since gone from strength to strength.

The Benefits Of Riding A Tricycle

1. Confidence Issues

We are not all blessed with good balance when it comes to riding a two wheel bike and we could lack confidence because of this. It could be a result of having a fall off a bike.

This doesn’t mean you have to miss out on family bike rides or exercising in general. It is where a tricycle is the perfect option and if you are struggling to keep up with your children then an electric tricycle would be spot on to keep up with the kids.

If your children are into mountain biking you could even do that with a mountain tricycle. There is no reason for you to miss out on all the fun just because you lack a bit of confidence.

2. The Older Tricycle Rider

There is no doubt that as you get older your mobility will start to suffer. This is of course perfectly normal. If you were very active in your younger and mid-years it will come as quite a shock that you are unable to do the things that you once did so easily such as riding a bike. This is where a tricycle for adults is the perfect answer. It will first get you out and about and more importantly it will allow you to have some exercise. You will also feel safe and secure because the tricycle having 3 wheels means you won’t fall and if you’re lacking in energy you can always opt for a Jorvik electric tricycle.

3. Disabilities and Tricycle Riding

If you are disabled and you simply cannot ride a two wheeled bike, then a tricycle is the answer. It will enable you to get exercise to keep fit and just get outdoors in the fresh air which gives you a daily purpose in life.

The advantages and benefits of tricycle riding are endless and whatever your circumstances, whether that be a lack of confidence, a disability or just being elderly and not being as agile as you once were, then tricycle riding is the perfect solution.
