[AD] Recapturing Those Lost Memories With Digital Converters

July 19, 2021

I don’t have many memories of my father from when I was growing up. However, the one particular memory I do have is whenever we were on a day trip or an annual holiday. My father would be forever filming on a cine camera and for many years during my childhood I remember sitting down as a family so he could get the projector and screen out so we would watch the films. I guess it was what people would call today a movie night. This memory is something that has never left me.

Of course as the years have passed the cine films, cine camera, projector and screen would be put away in the back of a wardrobe and eventually much of it was lost or broken. Thankfully my mother put all the cine films in an old shoebox and these moved from house to house with us. In fact, they even travelled to Australia as she lived out there for many years before coming back to the UK to live and yes, the cine films came with her.

They have been stored away in a cupboard in her hallway for probably about 20 years and in truth they were forgotten about. I have always known they were there, but as we didn’t have a projector or screen I didn’t know what we could do with them.

Then I was approached by Digital Converters asking if I would like to collaborate with them and review their service. The timing was perfect because it had been on my mind to do something with the cine films for the reason that my mother was getting older and she had mentioned that she would love to watch them again.

Of course the first job was to find the cine films. Thankfully they were in the place that I thought they would be so I emailed a picture of the reels of film to Digital Converters praying that they would be able to transfer cine film to digital and with an instant response they said that it wouldn’t be a problem.

Final thoughts

To have the opportunity to watch these cine films taken by my father all those years ago has been truly wonderful. Watching my mum smile as she watched them was very heartwarming and to see those precious memories of us all as children gave me a very warm feeling inside. Strangely watching them in their original format as cine films but on a laptop gave them a very atmospheric feel. It was certainly a very emotional experience and yes it brought a tear to my eye.

Digital Converters offer a very safe and secure service with excellent customer service and always kept me updated. They made sure my precious cine films were kept safe which was so important to me.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Digital Converters. They are a five star service. I can also offer all my lucky readers a discount code at the checkout if you add ‘DIYDADDY30’ you will receive a 30% discount on your order.

Check out the video below of me as a little one, the quality is fantastic. It brought back wonderful memories for me.

This a paid collaboration with Digital Converters. All thoughts and opinions are 100% mine.

My big question Nigel is whether they can convert photographs to film as well? I have a stack that need digitising! Anyway, how wonderful Digital Converters was able to digitise those cone films. You’ve got those memories forever now.
