[AD] Wales Climate Week 2020 2-6 November 2020

The importance of climate change really cannot be underestimated. Tackling climate change is something that all of us should be doing. It could be something as simple as cycling to work instead of using your car. Up-cycling clothes and furniture is also another great way to help. Every small step you make as an individual to reduce your carbon footprint will help to reduce climate change.

Why is that so important?

The impact of climate change can be seen on a daily basis. From freak weather to polar ice caps melting, it’s a very real problem. If it continues at its current speed, the world our children inherit will quite simply not be worth having. This is the main reason why we need to start making changes and working together to tackle climate change.

That’s why I have teamed up with the Welsh Government to help raise awareness of Wales Climate Week. Created by the Welsh Government, Wales Climate Week aims to bring together national and global policy makers, campaigners and people who are interested in tackling the very important issue of climate change.

Wales Climate Week starts on Monday 2nd November and runs to the 6th November 2020. During this week, there will be a series of virtual and interactive events that will cover issues involving agriculture, hospitals, schools, young people and much more.

It will provide very practical examples of how we as individuals and organisations can help tackle the issue of Wales’ climate change emergency.

Wales Climate Week is the perfect opportunity for the Welsh Government to show how they are tackling climate change. Wales is on track for the 2020 interim emission reduction target of 27%, but the Welsh Government is keen to continue to improve the trajectory of Wales’ response to the climate emergency so far. The idea is that Wales Climate Week will accelerate these aims while acting as a stepping stone towards the UN Climate Change Conference and the new All Wales Low Carbon Delivery Plan, due to be published in November 2021.

Low Carbon Heroes

The Welsh Government wants to involve and celebrate individuals and groups in Wales known as Low Carbon Heroes. They want you to show how you have made a special effort either in your home or working life to make our world a greener place. It doesn’t need to be a big or complicated change. It really can be something as simple as walking to the shops instead of driving.

How do I take part?

All you have to do is share what you have been doing on your social media channel to become a Low Carbon Hero. Be sure to use the following hashtags: #LowCarbonHero #ArwyrCarbonisel. So, let’s all get involved and start making Wales a greener country.

Climate Emergency Pledge
