Being a successful blogger, whether it’s parenting, beauty, lifestyle or DIY is incredibly difficult. It takes a lot of effort and hard work. I have been fortunate to have met, in real-life and online, some of the most successful bloggers. Usually, I might add they are parenting bloggers and they all have a number things in common, so I thought I would give five tips that all of the successful bloggers have in common because if you read a selection of top bloggers you will find these qualities running through their blogs.
Recently I interviewed six pro bloggers on my blog and after reading each interview there was certain elements all of them had, and these guys really are top of the premiership blogging table and have been for many years. That does not happen by accident believe me, it takes something very special.
Content on any blog is quite obviously a very important factor, but although it’s easy to keep pumping out post after post, if it’s not well written or engaging it’s fairly pointless. If you read any top bloggers posts they are always well written totally engaging and invariably they will make posts that are collaborations with brands very natural and totally engaging which is very difficult to do.
Content is important on a very regular basis, but it must be interesting, engaging, and easy to read. The top bloggers always manage to do that.
This particularly shone through with my interviews from all of the bloggers I interviewed. They’re massively dedicated to doing a great job. Committing to a blog is far from a 9-5 job, it’s all consuming and there never is really any rest, unless of course you are asleep haha! Without dedication if I’m totally honest you might as well give up now, because if you want your blog to be the best it can be you will need to dedicate many hours of your time to it.
3. Keeping It Real
I have always wondered what this meant, but after reading the interviews with the pro-bloggers I realised instantly what it was. We read people’s blogs probably because we are all a bit nosey. I know I do, but I don’t want to read a blog that is about a perfect family for instance. I want to read the truth and that is what is meant by keeping it real. When you read top bloggers you instantly feel that what is written is real and more importantly it’s relatable to my life which is why I go back to read more.
Imagery on a blog is vital so that visually it appeals to the eye and pictures are taken well and don’t look posed, natural images are vital.
Finally all top bloggers have this ability. Yes you may have written a blog post that you think is the best thing ever, and it may well be, but if nobody reads it what is the point? This is where multitasking comes into play. Promoting the post across social media, trying to get interaction etc, it’s hard work and takes up an enormous amount of time. Always checking on your stats and trying to improve your SEO, the list is endless. You really will have to multitask.
If you are new to blogging or you’re thinking of starting a blog, try to remember to become successful you will need so many qualities, and all of the top bloggers have those qualities. This is quite simply why they are top of the tree. It’s not easy, but it’s possible, maybe one day I will get there too!
