Brilliant Dad Feature Week 116 

This week our brilliant dad feature is all Dan, but his online alias is Daddynessblog. He is 25 years old and lives in the south of England. He has two children. His boy is named Noah who is one and a half years old and his daughter, Amelia, who is almost 6 months. He is married to his wife Charlotte.

1. Have you always wanted to be a dad?

Yes. If you read my first blog entry you will see there that me and my wife Charlotte really struggled conceiving and never thought it would happen. Nothing is more rewarding to me than being a dad.

2. How did You feel when your children were born?

I felt like the happiest man in the world. I was so proud of my wife and I just knew that no matter what, they both made me feel so lucky and I would do anything for them.

3. What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a dad?

I have so much in my head it’d take me forever to name everything. I was ecstatic when my little girl rolled for the first time (even though I missed it). I was so proud of Noah when he finally started walking. It took him a little longer than the professionals would’ve liked but again, my blog will tell you what I think of those sorts!

4. What are some of the funniest moments to have happened to you as a dad?

I have been urinated on, in public and in my own home. I have been pooped on too. Somehow the poo managed to reach my face, which I wasn’t aware of until I unknowingly rubbed it in to my face. I put a nappy on backwards and suffered the consequences whilst at a wedding (during the vows!)

5. Have there been any situations You have found hard to cope with as a dad?

Only in the beginning really. When my wife returned to work and I had a week off of work and had the kids on my own. It was stressful looking after two kids under two all at once, and I did become very “on edge”. That said, 4 days into the week, I managed much better and now I’m more than capable.

6. What are your dreams and hopes for your children?

I’m not one of these super strict parents. I obviously tell them off when they do something they shouldn’t. I want them to become a brain surgeon or a rocket scientist so they can look me and my wife! But joking aside, I honestly just want them to be happy and know that I’m always there for them whenever they need me. They will make me proud I’m sure, because they already do.
