Brilliant dad feature week 33
This weeks Brilliant Dad Feature is Alan from the UK. Alan is a father of four children who blogs at Baby Pink and the Boys. Thank you very much to Alan for taking part.
1. Have you always wanted to be a dad?
Yes. Being adopted as a child, even though my adopted parents loved me and my natural sister as their own. I always wanted children and a family of my own.
2. How did you feel when your children were born?
Was the happiest day of my life. When my first child, my son was born. His mother had to be given sedatives after the birth so I held him and gave him his first bottle. I was terrified I’d break him he was so small.
3. What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a Dad?
Seeing my children. I’ve two stepson’s as well as my son and a baby girl. Developing and watching their personalities grow.
4. What are some of funniest moments to have happened to you as a dad?
We were on holiday in Portugal. The apartment had a balcony in one of the bedrooms. The boys had been instructed not to go out on it unless me or their mother was with them.
One day we heard the plastics chairs being dragged. I ran into the room to find two of he boys had pulled he plastic table and chairs into the room, between the beds and we’re sitting down eating coco pops. “We’re having a picnic” the youngest said with a big smile on his face.
5. Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
The middle lad has autism so his behaviour can be challenging. As well as the usual step dad challenges. You’re not my real Dad! You can’t tell me what to do! You love him more than us!
6. What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
To be happy and confident!
