Brilliant dad feature Week 39
This week the Brilliant Dad Feature is Ashley. Ashley is 38 and is a father of 3: Grayson 6, Addison 4 & Deacon 2.
Ashley was working full/part time as a lorry driver, but is now a full-time stay at home dad and carer as Grayson is mentally and physically disabled.
I’ve been blogging across a couple of platforms for about 18 months, but now I’m just starting to get into it more. I was recently picked to be a vlogger for Dad Channel UK which I hope will help with the blog. In my spare time I am a gadget/tech nerd, Xbox gamer and motorsport enthusiast plus my family of course.

1. Have you always wanted to be a dad?
I think once I left home I knew I wanted to be, coming from a fairly big disconnected family I knew once I had my own I would make sure that wouldn’t happen to mine.
I don’t think anyone can truly express the emotions you go through when they’re born, once you hold them. You completely change into another person so full of love and happiness.
3. What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a dad?
For each child it is different and always will be as they are so uniquely individual, but one of the most rewarding for me is seeing my eldest son Grayson take his first few steps when we were told he would never walk. Big gulp!
I’d have to say with regret their has probably been a few but honestly cannot remember any off the top of my head (bad parent I know) but plenty of silly little moments like falling over on woodland walks and getting completely plastered in mud head to toe which my two youngest found highly amusing.
5. Have there been any situations with your children you have found difficult to cope with?
Unfortunately yes. We nearly lost our son Grayson twice in his life so far one being June this year when he underwent emergency brain surgery which was such an emotional rollercoaster for all involved, but two days later he was back to his normal self, (wipes sweat from brow) he’s like a cat I think and has 9 lives or 7 now.
6. What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
As we all do I hope that they each become incredible human beings, loving and caring like their mother, tough and understanding like me and most of all they enjoy their lives to the fullest.
