Children’s Bedroom Redecorating Ideas

August 24, 2020

There are plenty of ways you can redecorate a bedroom so that it is perfect for children to occupy! Whether it be, adding new furniture, fitting new lighting or redecorating the walls, the following short guide will help you revitalise the look of your child’s bedroom.

Firstly, you should think about if you need to replace the bed. For instance, if you have two children in one room, you could have a bunk bed added instead. For lots of children, a bunk bed can be a fun and enjoyable addition to a room and it can save on space! Alternatively, you could also use less space by adding a bed with built-in drawers.

You can create a more spacious bedroom for your child or children through re-organisation. For instance, you could keep toys and objects at a height, especially those that are not used as often. Another way to use up less space is by adding some vertical storage.

What about the walls? It may interest you to add some new wallpaper or repaint the room. Preferably, light colours should be used such as beige, yellow, light green, aqua or sea blue. You might also like to add stickers to the wall. For example, you could purchase stickers of your kids’ favourite video games or TV shows although it might be best to talk to them first as children can be picky at times!

If you’d like or need to have the walls plastered first, you’ll need to do some research regarding which companies in your local area can perform this work and the cost to skim a room.

In the case of lighting, you should use three different types, namely, general, task and accent. Most of the room’s illumination is achieved with general lighting. LED downlights and ceiling-mounted lights are popular examples of this form of lighting. Pendant lights and table lamps are some popular examples of task lighting while a common form of accent lighting is wall sconces.

Since we’re considering lighting for a child’s bedroom, you should also take a look into brightness and colour adjustable smart lights. This way, the right colour and brightness can be set and chosen for different times of the day. In turn, this will make it easier for your children to fall asleep.

How about flooring? You may wish to have new carpet fitted as it will offer a softer underfoot and arguably improve the environment overall.

As you can see, there are many ways you can remodel a kid’s bedroom. Keep an open mind, and consider your budget options and requirements. Then do some shopping around to find the perfect fittings and appliances!

Some great tips and advice for redecorating nigel.

One of the girls room is a main one we are planning at the moment. Mainly 2 share the room (toddler and eldest step daughter with my eldest daughter at the weekends).

We currently have a high sleeper for mouse with the youngests toddler bed underneath, my eldest has a flip out chair bed for when she is here at the Weekends. Not the best set up but has worked up until now. We are currently looking into more sleeping arrangements and storage in the room.
