Doing Your Bit for the Environment
When you have kids, you want the best for them – and you’ll really go out of your way to achieve this. You’ll live in a safe area. You’ll send them to a good school to receive a good education. You’ll work hard so they can pick up all of the hobbies they want to. You’ll try to book getaways to build loving family memories. You’ll support them. You’ll make sure they’re happy. But have you thought about the long term? Nowadays, we’re becoming increasingly aware of the impact we’re having on the planet and how this will impact our kids in their later years and their kids if they have any. We really do need to start making the world a better place for the sake of future generations and this is why many of us are starting to lead more eco friendly lifestyles. If you want to jump on the green bandwagon, here are a few things you can do to help out!

Use Sustainable Fuels
Our houses need energy. We need light and warmth. But so many of us use fossil fuels to achieve this. We use gas and other fuels that are contributing to climate change and that are really damaging the planet. Plus, they’re not sustainable. At some point, they will run out! So, consider more sustainable fuels on a day to day basis. Switch to an eco-friendly energy supplier. Often, these suppliers are cheaper too! Consider heating your home with a log fire and sustainable wood. Make sure you have a log splitter and parts to repair your log splitter too. Just keep this all well away from your children and be extremely careful when using them. You could even go all out and generate sustainable energy yourself with solar panels on your home!
Recycle
If you’re not recycling yet, now is the time to start. Many councils will collect recycling. So, make sure you have separate bins in your home for paper and cardboard, tins, glass, plastic and general waste. Sort all of your waste accordingly and leave it out to be collected properly. If recycling isn’t available in your local area, petition for the area to start recycling. Consider reselling your old gadgets if you still have them. You can earn decent money if you sell your old mobile phone, regardless of how much it has depreciated. You should compare the current market value of an item before listing it on a platform.
Reduce Plastic Use
If possible, reduce your use of plastic altogether. Plastic isn’t biodegradable, fills landfill, pollutes the oceans and is generally awful for the planet. Try not to buy or use plastic. There are so many places where you can cut your use down. Avoid plastic packaging. Avoid buying plastic pet toys. Avoid plastic toys for your kids. Stop using plastic straws. There are many alternatives out there, so try to opt for some of these instead.
Consider Walking
If you’re making a small trip, why not try walking instead of driving. Not only is this good for the environment, but it will be good for you and your kids too, helping you to all reach your recommended daily exercise.
These are just a few ways you can help the environment. They’re small steps to take, but they really will make all the difference!
