Entertaining Your Children Over The Christmas Holidays

Our five year old twins finished school the Friday before Christmas which is a good thing because they were occupied almost right up to Christmas Day with school. This meant that we had only two days of high excitement before Father Christmas arrived with their presents.

Once the Christmas Day excitement had subsided, and the girls had played with all their toys, they now have two weeks off from school. Here are my tips for keeping them entertained during the school holidays.

1. After being stuck in the house for a number of days, what better way to blow away the cobwebs than to go and get some fresh air. This will be a great opportunity for our twins to try out their new bikes that Father Christmas left for them. Or simply just a trip to your local park.

2. Of course the weather might not be very nice so going out might be a problem, but you can always go to the cinema to see one of those amazing kids films, but don’t forget the popcorn! A cinema outing wouldn’t be complete without popcorn! You could also have a game of ten pin bowling. This is something our twins live to do.

3. While I was browsing the internet for things to do with the kids I came across Stagecoach performing arts. It’s really amazing and they have schools all over the country for children to unleash their creative side.

There philosophy is to unlock children’s potential through the wonderful world of singing, dancing and acting.

They cover all ages and I’m sure they have something to suit your child, including holiday workshops which are perfect for the Christmas holidays. There’s nothing better than watching your child express themselves through the medium of singing, dancing and acting.

4. Of course there are times when you stay at home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. From the old favourites of hide and seek etc, or you can have a karaoke session or simply play board games. My twin girls love board games and I’m sure they’d play them all day given the chance.

Another favourite way to keep your children occupied well it is in our home is  jigsaw puzzles. The girls love doing jigsaws. The girls also love to paint as you can see with their new blo-pens, that Father Christmas left for them.

In this world today which is so heavily influenced by technology, it’s actually quite nice to see kids active or simply occupying their time with something that doesn’t involve technology. Making up games such as a veterinary surgery can be loads of fun, and get your children’s imaginations really working.
