Germs In Your Home How To Avoid Becoming Unwell

August 17, 2018

In the home germs are everywhere, and they can quickly spread from hand to mouth which in turn can give you a bad tummy or diarrhoea which is very unpleasant, and this can affect the whole family very quickly.

When you are cooking for the whole family it is important to have good hygiene practice in place so none of those germs pass onto the food that you are preparing for all the family which they will be eating.

I have teamed up with Brosch Direct and their campaign #GlovesIsAllYouNeed. So I have decided to list a few tips and advice on how to protect yourself from germs around the home, which will hopefully keep everybody in the family healthy and not getting unwell with a bug.

1. Food Preparation

When preparing food, especially raw meat, it is very important that hygiene rules are put into practise. It can be a haven for germs. Never have raw meat near cooked food, and a useful way to do this is to have different areas in your kitchen for preparation of food. You also can’t wash your hands often enough with an anti-bacterial hand wash and possibly consider wearing gloves when preparing food.

2. Washing Your Hands

This is something we have drilled into our six year old twin girls so much so that it is now second nature to them. After going to the toilet, even if it is only for a wee, remember to wash your hands with an anti-bacterial hand wash. But also if they have been playing out in the garden where germs are everywhere, it’s important to wash your hands. For me though one of the biggest times when you must wash hands is before you sit down to eat your meal.

3. Cleaning Surfaces

The importance of cleaning is vital and in the kitchen which is of particular importance cleaning the surfaces on a regular basis to keep the germs away is so important. This is where you prepare all your food that the family will be eating. So cleaning the surfaces with a quality anti-bacterial spray at regular intervals should be part of your regime of cleaning. It certainly is in our household.

That is my three tips and advice for how to keep germs away in the home. It will hopefully stop anybody becoming unwell due to germs spreading. Implementing these three tips is simple and will quickly become just an everyday occurrence.

Do you have any tips on how to keep germs away in the home? I would love to hear your tips.
