Getting Your Van Ready For Business

Nowadays many people are self-employed and lots of people are either trades people or offer delivery services. This means it’s important to have your van properly equipped to do whatever your job is and also to ensure it’s done in a very efficient way so you don’t lose any time through lack of organisation.

I have been a painter and decorator for about 20 years which quite often also includes doing handyman jobs, and I have always used a van. All too often it involves working long hours which is ok, but time can be wasted because I can’t find what I need or I don’t have it which means a trip to my local supplier. Of course while I’m doing that it means I’m not working and therefore not earning any money.

So I decided a long time ago to have van racking installed in my van to keep everything organised and I know when I need a particular tool or specific materials to do the job it’s easy to see it on my racking. This means I can get on with what’s important which is doing the requested job for the customer.

The first job for my van was to get it boarded out with a good thick quality plywood and then get metal racking installed. The shelves were of different sizes and all labelled so I can see quickly exactly what I want. It’s a massive time saving addition to my van.

Today so many people have parcels delivered because of the growth of online shopping. We are no different. So often I see a delivery driver searching through a pile of parcels in the back of his van.

This also makes it easier to re-order as stock runs low, with just a glance at the racking you can quickly identify exactly what is needed.

Finally today I think just about everything that you need for your car can be done at either your home or office and car servicing and tyre fitting are a great example of this, and racking fitted in the back of the van can help the operator do a much better job because everything is organised.

I personally think no matter your trade, profession or job if it involves a van being used for you to carry out your job, then racking is a must to make your life easier and to help you complete the job with total efficiency.
