Holiday Staycations This Christmas

December 22, 2022

During the pandemic we saw a big increase in staycations for the obvious reason that we couldn’t fly abroad due to lockdowns. Here we are now a couple of years later and yes all lockdowns have been removed, but unfortunately we have numerous industrial actions which can affect our ability to travel abroad for Christmas.

I have teamed up with StartRite and their campaign UKHolidays VS Abroad. The campaign is all about showcasing family friendly activities in the UK. The campaign shows that you don’t have to reach for your passport to enjoy the festive season because so much can be had right here at home.

So let’s have a look at a few of the many activities that you can enjoy as a family in the UK.

1. Lapland UK Ascot

Lapland UK is a fantastic place to visit to enjoy the festive season. Lapland UK is an immersive adventure based on the reimagining of the Father Christmas myth.

Over 3.5 hours you travel through an enchanted forest, toy factory and of course Mother Christmas’s kitchen and to complete your visit you will have a private audience with Father Christmas himself.

2. Northern Lights Scotland

The Northern lights are spectacular and instead of travelling to Iceland you can travel up to Scotland to have a tour of the Moray firth. Moray Firth is situated in North East Scotland and usually has less rain than the west which will give you a much better chance of seeing the Northern lights and why not book a local hotel for a short getaway.

3. Hogwarts in the Snow Watford

If your family are fans of Harry Potter then Hogwarts in the Snow is an absolute must. It’s a studio tour that sees the all of the iconic movie sets such as Gryffindor common room, Forbidden Forest and Diagon Alley which are all transformed for the festive season. You will also get to see the Great Hall sparkling ready for the famous Yule Ball.

These are just a few suggestions for activities to enjoy this Christmas in the UK and with the likely disruption at airports this Christmas, it’s the perfect time to staycation in the UK.
