Christmas time can be hectic enough without having to keep the kids entertained on top of it all. Nothing is worse than sweating over a steaming pan trying to cook the Christmas meal in time or trying to get all the presents wrapped whilst they’re nagging you to entertain them! If you have little ones who need to be kept busy during this Christmas period, then here are a few useful suggestions.

Festive Bingo Games

This year, Bingo has had a festive makeover. Some of the top bingo sites now have Christmas versions of the classic game, that are both super fun and family friendly. You can simply download the bingo games online, and play either via your phone, tablet or laptop, or you can also opt to print them out in paper copy. The cards feature mini festive challenges such as “put on your garish Christmas jumper and get someone to complement it” or “take a walk around the neighbourhood and look at all the Christmas lights”. Once a challenge has been completed, players simply check them off their bingo card, and the first to check them all off is crowned the winner. This festive version of bingo is an ideal way to keep your kids happy and occupied this Christmas time.

Board Games

Board games make for brilliant entertainment over the festive period, and probably almost everybody has at least one or two already kicking about in their cupboards somewhere. Monopoly, Scrabble, Ludo, and Snakes and Ladders are a few old classics that everyone, including your kids, should enjoy, but of course there are plenty more brand-new board games out there that would be perfect too.

Playing New Sports

During the holidays, you will entertain your kids with various new sports and old favorites.

Many new sports are now available that your children can try. These include bubble soccer, disc golf, and unicycle hockey. Bubble soccer is a sport where players wear large bubbles covering their upper bodies.

They then play soccer while inside the bubble. Disc golf is similar to regular golf, but players use discs instead of clubs to hit a ball into a hole.

Unicycle hockey is a sport that requires players to ride a unicycle while playing hockey. Cricket is also an excellent game, and you can get some Black Friday cricket deals on the internet.

These are just some of the new sports your children can try during the holidays. They will be sure to have a great time playing these games and will keep them entertained for hours on end. So be sure to check out these new sports and see which ones your children are most interested in trying.

Christmas Memory Game

If you don’t want to go out and buy a new board game, then there’s plenty of great games you can play with your kids for free this Christmas. The “Christmas Memory Game” is a great one. To play this game, begin by choosing eight Christmas themed images, such as Father Christmas, the Grinch, a Reindeer etc. Simply draw or print out two of each of these images, so that you should end up with sixteen cards in total. Place the cards face-down on the table in a 4 x 4 layout and take it in turns to pick out a card. Taking it in turns to have only one go at a time, each player must try to find its partner. If you fail, place the card back, face-down, where it was before. The first player to match up the highest number of pairs, wins.

Reindeer Antlers

Get one player to don an antler headband, then use pipe cleaners to create rings. Each player takes it in turn to try to toss a ring onto the reindeer antlers. This game works great for indoor or outdoor play, and if you’re not a fan of DIY, you can opt order a version of the game from Amazon instead.

Baking

If your kids are old enough to use kitchen equipment safely on their own, then baking is a great suggestion to offer up to them when they tell you that they don’t have anything else to do. You can buy festive shaped cookie cutters cheaply online, and there are also plenty of kids baking books out there on the market. Rice crispy cakes, shortbread biscuits or even gingerbread men are nice and easy to make, and perfect for kids. Just make sure they agree to do the washing up too before they get started!

Crafts

Most kids love to do crafts and can easily while away the entire afternoon with a good crafting project. Set a table up full of crafting supplies for them and leave them to it. You can buy crafting kits and supplies affordably from Amazon, as well as shops like The Works. A lot can also be made from old shoe boxes, cotton wool, old fabric and anything else that you might already have kicking about the house.

Ask Your Kids to Put on a Play

As long as your kids are generally pretty good at getting along, then a great way to keep them entertained all day is by getting them to put on a play. Get them to raid their dressing up box, let them make their own costumes, or buy them a few basic props to get them started. Challenge them to make up their own songs or dances and agree to watch them perform it later in the evening. 

Keeping the kids entertained during the Christmas chaos should hopefully become a lot easier this year with this selection of games and activities at hand. Try not to pressurise yourself too much though, the festive period should be just as enjoyable for you as it is for a little ones!
