For those that can’t afford to buy a new car every five years, making sure the car looks and feels brand new is important. While cars are a great asset to have for the freedom to go anywhere and everywhere, they can be a costly expense to the average household.

With that being said, it’s important to help keep your car looking new. Here are some tips to make even the oldest of rides, look brand new.

Store it away properly

Storage is essential and it’s surpising how few car owners will now store their cars in a garage or underneath a shelter.

While it’s the hassle of having to get it in and out of storage, the benefits that can come from keeping the car in the garage are noticeable. When a car that has a lot of metal on the outside, is stored outside in the elements, weather damage can occur.

From rain, sleet, and snow, to bright sunshine that emits harsh UV rays, all can contribute to the damage and wear of the car. Keep it in the garage or find a suitable storage option to help keep it in good condition.

Wash it regularly – inside and out!

Be sure to wash the car regularly. This includes both the inside and outside. Failure to do either is going to cause wear and tear. Not wiping down surfaces or spillages that happen in the interior cabin, may end up doing some permanent damage.

The same can be said for the exterior with rust forming where dirt has collected and not been cleaned off properly. Washing it regularly should consist of around one or two washes every month.

Stay on top of rubbish with car bins

A good way to stay on top of the cleaning internally is to invest in some car bins. These bins can be attached to back seats in order to help collect any rubbish that kids might have created in the backseat area. By staying on top of the rubbish, it helps avoid too much mess from forming in the cabin itself.

Use the right cleaning tools and products

When cleaning, don’t just use any old products or tools. This may end up causing more damage than good it does. Try to buy car-related tools and cleaning products so that the right chemicals and cleaning brushes/cloths are being used.

For certain cars, there might be particular products recommended by the manufacturer in order to keep them in good shape. It’s worth taking those recommendations if possible to help with the upkeep.

If you’re conscious of doing damage or you don’t have the time to clean, then a paint protection film and other services by a car detailing company can come in handy.

Focus on creating a perfect shine

The buffing of the car’s surface is the most important part and is what can often make a car look brand new. Again, make sure to use the right products and materials.

With these tips, you should see a dramatic improvement in how the car looks and how long it lasts!
