Improving The Outside Of Your Home

We used to rent our home for many years, but after many hard years of saving to have enough for a deposit we finally bought our new home three years ago. I have to admit it was a very exciting time for us as a family.

The property we purchased was in quite a run-down condition so we knew that it would take a little while to get the property exactly as we wanted it. Of course, that didn’t matter because finally after renting for years everything we did would be for us as a family.

Obviously the main plan was to do a lot of work inside to stamp our personality and character as a family on our new home. Once that was done it was time to look at the outside of the property.

Like many families we have two cars and unfortunately the driveway was narrow and only fitted one car easily but it had a large front garden. So the obvious decision was made to create another parking space. This could be done easily by knocking down part of the wall and making the front garden smaller which would then mean parking two cars will be easy.

The decision will be what type of driveway we want. After browsing online we came across Resin Bonded Aggregates. You may well ask, what is that? Let me explain. It is a gravel driveway and then it is bonded with resin so it gives the look of a gravel driveway, but because it is bonded the gravel stays exactly where it is placed.

Another big advantage of a resin bonded, aggregate driveway is that it’s easy to keep clean as it can be pressure washed and the choice of colours you can have is extensive so it’s a win-win on all counts. To finish off the driveway it will look very sophisticated if you have a row of red bricks around the edge.

We also have a couple of paths that lead to the back garden and patio and once we have completed the driveway we will be running the same theme down the side of the property and also the patio.
