[AD] Keeping You Car Safe For On The Road

As a car owner, it’s vital for you to keep your car in good working order and safe on the road. It’s often the thing that we rely on to get us from A to B on a regular basis so it’s important for you to make sure you follow a regular maintenance routine on your car.

Some of the thing you should make sure you look after include: 

Your Tyres 

You need to ensure you’re tyres are safe for you to drive your vehicle. This means they not only need to have the right tyre pressure, the right tyre depth and be in good condition. They also need to be alined and have accessories such as chains in case of snow. If you have any problems with yout tyres it’s imperative for you to have the changed as soon as possible. Depending on the year of your car, you should always make sure you have either a spare tyre or tyre puncture repair to use in case an emergency. 

Your Window Wipers 

These are responsible for keeping your window clear from rain and for keeping your windowscreen clear of debris. If they’re damaged or not clearing your screen properly it’s time to replace them. They aren’t usually expensive and you can normally replace them yourself in a matter of minutes. If you’re unsure some care shops and mechanics such as specialised Mercedes mechanic may be able to do them for you. 

Your Lights 

It’s not only illegal to drive around in the dark with your lights not working it’s also unsafe to do so. A responsible car owner will take the right steps to check their lights on a regular basis to ensure that no bulbs need fitting. Not have a working signal light, for example, could lead to an accident if other drivers aren’t able to see where you are going to move. Again you should be able to change these yourself. Make sure you choose the right colours as it can be an offence and safety hazard to install the wrong bulbs. 

Your Oil And Coolant

Your oil is really important for keeping your car healthy and running, you should always check it before long journeys but also make sure you check it every few months. Having low oil can severely damage your car and leave you with a nasty bill to sort it out. On top of checking your oil, you should also make sure you check your coolant and antifreeze. The coolant is what helps your engine remain cool and prevent s it from overheating and the antifreeze prevent the fluid from freezing in really cold temperatures. Make sure you check both of these regularly, dependent on the weather conditions at the time. If they need to be topped up do it without haste.
