Lightyear Inspired Workshops come to Techniquest this Summer!

Techniquest is always a firm favourite in our house. What’s not to love? From fun experiments to that giant piano, there’s always something fun to do!

This summer Techniquest has teamed up with Disney and Pixar to celebrate the science that inspired the movie “Lightyear”.

We haven’t seen the new “Lightyear” movie yet however I’ve heard nothing but good things about it!

So, if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to venture into space as an astronaut, Techniquest have you covered with their Lightyear Workshop.

You can learn all about how astronauts work by wearing astronaut gloves and attempting to screw in a few nuts, bolts and screw fixings using the tools provided. Can you complete the task? And if so, how quickly can you do it?

You can launch a rocket by customising a rocket with K’NEX pieces, attaching it to a guidance line and launching it.

Children and adults will also have the chance to write a programme for a robot to follow a path to the end which sounds like lots of fun!

In addition, astronauts must regularly exercise to keep muscle mass in space. At Techniquest’s Lightyear workshop you can find out what’s harder – exercising with or without resistance bands? See if you have what it takes to keep fit in space!
