Men And Essential Oils

June 22, 2017

We have moved a long way since it was considered taboo that men shouldn’t spend a great deal of time grooming themselves. In fact, nowadays many men take longer than their partners to make sure they look just right, before maybe an evening out together.

Men are now starting use oils in their daily grooming routines such as those available online at new directions aromatics essential oils. So I thought I would put together a list of oils that are now commonly used by men.

1. Tea Tree Essential oil

Tea tree oil is from the leaves of the tea plant and is used in many comestics and skin washes which men are now using more widely. It is also in many shampoos and can help prevent dandruff. It has a very fresh odour.

2. Cedarwood Essential oil

Cedarwood oil is fantastic for health and wellbeing. It can help in the treatment of eczema and many other skin conditions. It can also help with hypertension, high blood pressure and can also help tighten muscles and generally give you a feel good factor.

3. Sandalwood Essential oil

Sandalwood blended essential oil is fantastic for using after a tough day at work to unwind because it has calming and emotionally balancing properties to help you relax for the evening.

4. Ylang Ylang Essential oil

Ylang Ylang essential oil is known for its very relaxing aroma. It is said to help with confidence and your mind. It has long been known to help control skin oil production. It dates back to Roman times and Ylang Ylang can be used singularly or mixed with many other oils.

The use of oils is not purely for women anymore and not only used by professionals practising aromatherapy. They’re also used by men and why not? If it makes you feel better about yourself, then it has to be worth it.

I would love to know if any dads out their use essential oils. If so which ones and why do you use them?

I love sandalwood. I have soap, incense, moisturiser and essential oils. Tend to use a few drops in the sink or bath after a hard day in the garden. Not only does it smell good but it’s definitely done my skin good.

    Patchouli is another good one.

My husband has suffered with stomach ulcers for years, he’d take medication for months on end and not long after finishing it the ulcers would be back. I looked into natural remedies as the medication clearly wasn’t working and found that Frankincense oil is good for ulcers. And it worked! We use oils for all sorts now in our house. My son has Down syndrome and had huge digestion issues, but peppermint, lemon and fennel oil massages sorted it out within weeks x
