My Favourite Bloggers Of 2017

During the course of a year I read a lot of blog posts. Part of the reason for this is because I run a linky with my wife, Emily, who blogs at Twin Mummy And Daddy.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people blog, and the linky so often is a great way to find new and exciting bloggers. This post is all about five particular bloggers that I normally read everything they write. So, without waiting anymore, here are my five favourite bloggers of 2017 and they are in no particular order.

1. Five Little Doves, written by Laura Dove

I have been a massive fan of Laura’s blog for as long as I can remember. She writes completely from the heart, and she writes so fluently and the emotion just pours off the page at you. She never fails to bring a tear to my eye. My favourite post of Laura’s this year is: Life After Loss: A Grateful Heart. This post is all about Laura losing her son Joseph, and how trying to imagine the milestones of growing up and feeling cheated that you didn’t, but realising that being grateful that Joseph was and is a part of her life. It is a truly beautifully written post. If you haven’t read Five little Doves, I suggest you check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

2. Diary Of The Dad, written by Tom Briggs

When I started blogging about three years ago I remember googling dad bloggers and one name that appeared at the top of list was Diary Of The Dad. I remember instantly thinking this is total quality. If I can become half as good as this, I will be doing well. Along with a couple of other dad bloggers, this guy sets the benchmark for dad bloggers.

I love reading Tom’s posts about family life and his children’s adventures. Saying that, there was one post that Tom wrote this year which I totally resonated with about telling people you’re a professional blogger. I’m not a pro-blogger, but I was stunned at the outrageous things people replied with in Tom’s post: Six Things Not To Say To A professional Blogger

Tom is easily one of the best bloggers around today and you should check out his blog, Diary Of The Dad.

3. Dad Blog UK written by John Adams

John Adams, the author of Dad Blog UK, is a multi-award winning blog, and he’s consistently number one in the top ten charts. The reason why John wins awards and tops the lists, is because his blog is innovative, thought provoking and very professional. There would not be many days that go by that I don’t read his latest post. I could easily pick ten posts that have instantly held my attention, but one post that sticks with me this year, which really got me thinking was: My Experiences Of The Early Years . In this post John reflects on how important it is for a dad to be very involved in their child’s life, something I have written about myself on occasion. If you are new to the world of blogging check out Dad Blog UK. I guarantee you will learn so much, I have!

4. Unlikely Dad written by Tom

I have been a fan of Unlikely Dad for much longer than a year, and at the beginning of this year I wrote a post called dad bloggers to watch out for in 2017. Tom was one of them, and he did not disappoint! I have watched him build a big following and his writing just gets better and better.

Tom is in a same sex marriage, together they have an adopted son, and reading about their journey to becoming parents is uplifting and inspiring.

One particular post I read this year stands out for me: Do You Love Me Yet . In this post Tom talks about bonding and attachment with adopted children, it’s a very insightful read. Truly brilliant!

I highly recommend you check out Unlikely Dad, because I think he is going to be massive in 2018.

5. Run Jump Scrap written by Sarah Howe

Sarah and I started blogging around the same time give or take a month or so, and I remember reading her posts when we were both newbie bloggers and her blog would make me laugh, as well as give me food for thought. I also loved her family everyday posts because it has always felt that what I was reading was real and just very normal like myself. I have always identified with everything she writes.

Three years on and Sarah is producing top quality posts and the family posts are still there telling the story of her family life in such a lovely way. What has changed a bit though is Sarah now also occasionally writes about more thought provoking subjects and does it with great style and brilliantly getting her message across. One post that I thought this year was particularly awesome was, I’m Not Saying Sorry to my Second Born. What’s special about this post is the honesty in which it is written, and in Sarah’s no holds barred style which I love, always straight to the point.

That’s it my five favourite bloggers of 2017. They are very different in subject matter, but they all have one thing in common. They are brilliant writers, who work hard to make their blogs enjoyable to read.

About half way through writing this post I realised I have met all five of them in real life and I can honestly say they are five of the nicest people I have ever met, who I can definitely call friends now.
