My Twin Girls and Half Term 

My four year old twin girls are on half term this week. This is split between my wife and I due to our work commitments. 

I start off with Monday and Tuesday. Monday  is a very long day as my wife has to do a late shift in work and isn’t home until 8pm. I have usually put the girls to bed on my own saying that the girls miss their mummy at bedtime, but they are always very good. 

First thing on Monday morning R asked me to get out a table from behind the sofa. I had no idea why, but ok that’s fine, because I woke up to find the toilets blocked which meant I had to lift the manholes in the driveway to clear the blockage,  something I have to do periodically. It’s a lovely job. NOT! I can assure you. 
So while I was doing that I came in to check the girls were ok and they are there playing very nicely, but it surprised me the game they were playing They were playing schools. One was the teacher, the other was a pupil. First day of half term and really are they missing school already!

My twin girls have already told mummy and daddy what they would like to do over the half term and some of it is a little bit surprising, but  it’s showing how quickly they are growing up. 

1. They wanted to go to the pub for tea which in our case is the local Wetherspoons. We did this on the first weekend. The girls love sitting in the pub acting very grown-up. 

2. They want to visit the national museum of Wales, but they want to catch the train to town and the bus home. Going on the train to the town centre was loads of fun and the girls were so excited. 

At the museum they did an activity which was making Chinese fans. The girls loved the painting and they really loved the dinosaur display. The museum is a great place to visit for many hours and it’s massively educational for them. 

We then went to McDonalds for lunch and they really love a McDonalds as a treat. 

We then caught the bus home and the girls were yet again so excited riding on the bus. 

It was intersting because normally we travel by car everywhere. They were adamant that they wanted to go on the train and bus and they loved every minute of it. 

3. They want to go toAsda’s to buy their birthday cakes for their birthday party during the week. I love the fact that one picked a Star Wars cake and the other a Shopkins cake. They can be so different. 

They also were given some early birthday money by a family friend and M decided she would like a Moana costume from Asda.

4. They had their birthday party on Saturday for all their friends from school at a local softplay Centre called Funtastic which has loads of climbing frames. The girls had 22 friends at their party and had an awesome time especially when everybody sang them Happy Birthday. 

Although I suspect their favourite part was coming home and opening all the presents they had been given by their friends. 

Tomorrow my twins will be five years old and they have changed so much, especially in the last six months. One of the joys of having twins I have discovered is they play together more and more. It is becoming more obvious as they get older and the reason is simple. I imagine they have the same interests some of the time and undoubtedly enjoy making up games together. Being a twin has the added bonus of always having a friend, in this case it’s your sister to play games with. 

So hopefully we fulfilled some of their wishes for the things they wanted to do over the half term.
