My Twin Girls And Myself Are Off On A #MissionToMars #AD

On July 20th it will be 50 years since Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. It’s actually hard to believe it was 50 years ago. Since then other men have walked on the moon and travelled to space. The space station became a reality and we sent satellites and spaceships even further into space. We’ve even landed vehicles on planets like Mars.

To celebrate this incredible moment in the history of mankind, I have teamed up with PlayMobil and their intergalactic range of Mission To Mars play sets.

Now I have to find two volunteers who wanted to become astronauts, who could I ask Haha! Oh! I know Maybe my seven year old twin girls would like to become astronauts and see what they could find on a Mission to Mars, where possibly we would find a strange and new life form well there is only one way to find out.

First of all my twin girls would have to go on some rigorous training to become first class astronauts. This will involve getting fit and of course answering some questions about this very important mission.

Planning the mission and knowing exactly what they need to do is also important so I checked with them what was going to be important on their mission to Mars, and here’s what they said:

1. If you were an astronaut what would be the first thing you would do in space?

R said she would pick up moon rocks!

M said she wanted to throw food, but if I’m honest I’m not quite sure why, haha!

2. If you could only take one item into space with you, what would it be?

R said she would take Daddy Dog. He is very special to her because she has had him since she was a baby and she loves him a lot.

M said she would take her baby doll because she has had her since she was a baby and she was actually that size when she was born.

3. Which planet would you explore and what would you like to discover?

R said she would like to explore Mars and do experiments.

M said she would like to go to Saturn and experiment on rocks, not look for unicorns as I suggested!

Of course the girls passed their astronaut training with flying colours and they were ready for the mission to Mars. Well, not quite! We needed to build our Mars Rocket with a launchpad, the Mars space station and the Mars research vehicle to go off on our mission to Mars.

We were ready for our mission, but who was going to fly the rocket? After discussing this the girls decided they would take it in turns, sadly dad was not to be trusted with such an important job, haha!

The girls instantly got into the groove of their space adventure, and were suggesting which planet we should go to, but I had to remind them that our mission was to Mars where they would be able to do all their exploring, collecting rocks and finding craters before returning to the space station with their samples to carry out experiments on them to see what they were made of and if they could be used back on the moon.

After many weeks of flying and floating around our rocket we landed on Mars and were ready for our mission. We couldn’t wait to get outside and start collecting our samples and actually having fun jumping in the gravity free atmosphere! We explored for hours finding all sorts of things that we could test in the space station laboratory.

While the girls and I were driving around in the Mars research vehicle looking for samples I’m sure we all spotted a Martian, but before we could make contact they disappeared! Maybe next time we will find out if there is life on Mars.

We all had a fantastic time on our space adventure with PlayMobil. Sadly now our space adventure was over so it was time to board our rocket and head back to the Moon, but I’m sure it won’t be long before we’re heading off on another space adventure.
