My Wife Makes Me Giggle With Her Obsessions
My wife has an obsessive streak that I find hard to occasionally not giggle at, but in a very nice way. I wrote a post a long time back called my wife’s obsession with sewing, knitting and baking. It’s still one of my best ever read posts.
Over recent years since our twin girls were born she has for a better word gets a moment where she starts a hobby and throws herself completely into it.
Some examples of the past few years are
1. Sewing. This became very big thing and she started downloading patterns for toys to make for the girls. Every night for months she would slave over a hot sewing machine making toy after toy. Also she was making quilts for the girls made from their baby clothes. I believe one is finished, but the other is not. One day I’m sure it will be, but the sewing machine is currently in retirement. I’m sure it will back out of retirement to finish the second quilt one day!
2. Knitting also became a little bit on the obsessive side as well and there was many days that went past that a new delivery of wool would arrive via the postman. I actually thought at one point it would be cheaper to buy a few sheep to graze in our back garden and I take a course in sheep shearing, haha! We still have a mountain of scarves all around the house, plus bags of wool in the wardrobes. Who knows when this fad will re-emerge. Time will tell.
3. The latest obsession is actually a very good one and I can’t help but admire her dedication. It’s running. In fairness to my wife she has always loved running and this particular obsession has actually been going on for a while. Recently she ran a 10k race which I have to admit is pretty awesome.
My wife usually goes running as soon as she has dropped the girls to school. On one particular Friday morning she took the girls to school dressed in her running gear. Which I might add nowadays seems to be the mum’s uniform on the playground! So she went off on her run, but about half way through her run she was busting for a wee so she popped down a lane to have a wee, hidden away from the public eye. Unfortunately for my wife she squatted down and her bum landed on stingy nettles. Yes she stung her bum! I have never laughed so much in all my life. I would show you a photo, but none are available for the public domain haha! Of course she ran the second half of her run,twice as fast to get home to get some cream to cool her bum down.
These are just a few of my wife’s obsessions or fads which I imagine have probably cost us a fortune. In all honesty that doesn’t bother me. What I love is her dedication and determination to anything my wife sets herself to do. Of course it also gives me a giggle too, especially those stingy nettles!

Awww this is lovely. She is lucky to have such a supportive husband. I tend to go through phases where I’m obsessed with new hobbies which then never amount to anything. My spare room is currently storing enough jewellery making supplies to stock a small shop! 😂😂😂 #TriumphantTales

Oh, the poor girl! My sister did the same thing. and was squatting atop a bees nest. To say they were unhappy about the warm stream would be an understatement. Many ice packs later, she lived to tell the painful tell. I guess, us female types must always look before we wee. Unlike you men folk, who have the pleasure of added distance and stream… Oy vey #Triumphanttales
