My Wife's obsession with Baking, knitting and sewing

It started a while ago, well approximately two years ago when she decided to make her own Christmas cake. That quickly moved on to making the girls birthday cake. 

My wife also brought a bread maker and it has now become quite a hobby. She really doesn’t need an excuse to bake and to be honest, the girls love helping her. It’s a joy to watch the girls develop their new skills. 

We recently moved house and in the kitchen my wife instantly found a cupboard and I thought she was going to wet herself with excitement when she told me in no uncertain terms that is going to be her baking cupboard!

Currently it’s very full because it’s the girls birthday in a weeks time and she is going to make them a very special birthday cake.

Every now and again I catch her looking in her baking cupboard and looking at different cake decorations and then she’ll feel the need to show me. Very sweet (sad!) to be honest!

Knitting is a relativity new hobby, but this is also starting to take a hold! She has learnt how to knit with her arms and I have to admit the results are amazing scarfs and blankets have already been made. The only problem is that she gets me to unravel the wool which I really don’t enjoy! Not many days go by without a new batch of wool turning up in the post. 

The hobby she has been doing longest is sewing and she has made a quilt made up from the twins old clothes which is very sentimental and very cute. She has finished R’s, but M’s is still to be completed. Although she has assured me that it’s at the top of list to be completed. 

The nicest thing about all these hobbies is that girls will also learn to bake, knit and sew and they are really great skills to learn that either girls or boys can do, actually R said just the other day can boys knit, which of course we said of course they can. I believe that these types of hobbies should not be gender stereotyped otherwise we really haven’t left the 1950’s.

The only downside is it sometimes takes her a while to finish all of the different projects she starts. 

So maybe my darling wife, before you take up another hobby you should try and complete the current projects!
