Organising Your Home And Garage With Storage Solutions
If you’re anything like me then you will just shove things in the garage or in a cupboard in the house. The old saying, out of sight out of mind!

Unfortunately this is the most unorganised way to keep your belongings stored because you just keep piling your belongings on top of each other and quite often these could be treasured possessions that will end up being lost. Worse still, they will end up being thrown away. Treasured items that hold unforgettable memories will be lost forever.
With this in mind, what can you do to make sure your possessions are organised and easy to find if you want them in a hurry or just simply to show family or friends?
What you can do is organise your home and garage. Here are some tips to help you with this.
1. De-cluttering
This is definitely the first place to start when it comes to organising all of your possessions. There is no doubt that we all hoard so much stuff and the chances are that most of it is complete rubbish.
When you are de-cluttering your home and garage, it is important to be harsh. Whatever you do, don’t look at every item and think I may use this so I had better keep it. Ask yourself the question, when did I last use this or even look at it? The chances are you haven’t used it for years so now is the time to be brutal and bin it. You must apply this attitude towards all of your possessions.
Once you have completed your de-cluttering and you’re happy you have done it properly, now is the time to organise your home and garage.
2. Shelving
Shelving is particularly useful in the garage you can easily purchase shelving that can be place continuously around the perimeter of your garage this is then perfect for storing all the items in your garage in a organise and orderly way.
For example, we go camping a lot during the summer months so that means our camping gear just sits in our garage for most of the year. Every year we get back from a camping trip and I just throw all the equipment everywhere in the garage and then every year I’m hunting around looking for everything for a camping trip. Shelving will eliminate this completely. I can now store all the camping equipment on one shelving unit making packing up for a camping trip one hundred times easier.
Of course you could apply this system to anything such as a gardening shelving area or a DIY and tool shelving unit. You could even colour code your shelves to make it ultra organised.
If you have a utility room in the house, you could add a shelving unit to keep cleaning supplies or other household items so they are to hand.
3. Storage Boxes
Storage boxes are a fantastic way to store those treasured items safely. This could be in the garage or in the home.
It’s very important that when you are filling your storage boxes that you store similar items together such photos in one box and games in another and so on. Once you have filled your storage box make sure you label them with exactly what is in them otherwise you will end up going through numerous boxes to find which of your possessions you want.
