Reasons To Hire A Skip For Your Home

January 11, 2021

The last twelve months have without question been different and one of the biggest differences has been the amount of time that we have had to spend at home because of coronavirus restrictions and lockdowns. One thing that this has definitely pointed out to me is how much rubbish we have built up over the years and that so many areas of the home definitely need a good clear out.

Work has changed dramatically for me over the last 12 months and I have found that I have had a lot more time on my hands and this got me thinking about what jobs can I do around our home to fill the time. Whether it’s tidying up the garden or cleaning out the garage or the attic there are so many jobs to do. With many landfill sites either closed or very busy, I’ve decided to get on with those jobs that I have put off for years. I decided the best solution was to hire a skip. Skip hire can be arranged very easily. In fact, no matter where you live you skip hire can be sorted very quickly to enable you get on with those jobs around your home. For example, Thanet Skip Hire is just one such place where you can hire a skip quickly and easily.

Here are some reasons to hire a skip for your home.

1. Moving Home

If you are moving home you will very quickly find out how much hoarding you have been doing. So the last thing you want to do is to move all that unnecessary rubbish to your new home. This is the perfect time for a big clear out so you can dump it into the skip you have hired.

2. Garden Renovation

When you look around your garden you may see a mess and disorganisation. I know I certainly do. For example the patio is now very old and tired and in desperate need of replacement. Laying a new patio is something I can do and it’s the perfect springtime job.

Of course removing the old patio and disposing of it could be very difficult. If you were taking it to landfill in fact I would not recommend it. It would be far too many journeys. That is where hiring a skip is the perfect solution as there is no distance after you have removed the old slabs to get them dumped. You just dump them straight into the skip on your drive.

3. Extending your home

Nowadays more and more people are extending the properties they live in, instead of moving home. Whether that’s to add an extra bedroom or extend the kitchen to create a breakfast area.

This is of course something that you would employ a construction company to undertake the building work for, but when having an extension to your home there will be a lot rubbish and this will be where you will need to hire a skip for the builders to throw the rubbish away.

There are many reasons to hire a skip around the home and above is just a few. I would love to hear your reasons why you have had to hire a skip for your home in the comments below.
