Renovating Our Bathroom
Last year as I have mentioned before in previous articles, we bought our first home which of course was a very exciting time.
Our new home was in quite a bit of disrepair and very dated so it was in need of a complete renovation. We were lucky enough that we had about 2 months to make our new home habitable, but unfortunately I knew that we would not be able to do every room. So it was a question of setting priorities which were the bedrooms for my twin girls and our bedroom as well as the kitchen and lounge.
The one room that we decided to leave until a little further down the line was the bathroom. Although a little bit dated and quite honestly badly designed, it was useable and would be adequate for a while.
We have lived in our new home for nearly a year now and it is time to renovate and design our bathroom. Our bathroom is not the biggest bathroom so when considering the design it will have to be done carefully so the space is utilised to its maximum. With that in mind, there are still a number of items that I want to incorporate in our bathroom.
1. Shower
As there is limited room in our bathroom, we have decided to go with only a shower unit and not fit a bath. One end of the bathroom is a full window so that wouldn’t be suitable for a shower unit, but the other end of the bathroom would be perfect for a curved corner shower unit. Fitting it to the side of the door entrance.
2. Mirrors
As our bathroom is quite small a perfect way to create an illusion of space is mirrors. After researching vanity mirrors to go above the sink and a vanity unit, we decided that an Led Backlit Mirror would be a perfect choice. Not only would it give a feeling of space, it would also add light to that area. Led Backlit Mirrors are a very sophisticated addition to any bathroom and add character and appeal in our bathroom.
3. Lighting
Deciding on lighting in our bathroom has not been easy, but after careful thought we decided that sunken spotlights in the ceilings would be the best choice to light our bathroom. The finish on the spotlights would be a gold finish to match all the accessories in the bathroom such as the toilet roll holder, towel rails, taps and shower controls.
4. Storage unit/sink
We have decided to have the sink along the one wall where our Led Backlit will be. The sink will be of a design that incorporates a vanity unit underneath for storage and extend beyond the length on either side of the sink. This will be perfect for towel storage and all your cosmetics. It will also be useful to store toilet rolls. The bathroom sink will be finished with a waterfall gold tap to compliment all the other gold accessories in the bathroom.
This is my plan to renovate our bathroom this year so that a small space is utilised perfectly to fit everything we want in our bathroom.
